Throwing up

Ashley, sorry to be delayed in adding my condolences on Bentley's surgery. Sister Mary Francis -- it looks like he ate an armchair! :eek2: I sure hope all of you are feeling better today and that Bentley's recovery is uneventful.

Alright, here's a picture of Bentley looking super pathetic...poor baby!

And a picture of about 1/4 of the crap that they pulled out of his stomach. Beware of clicking on the second picture, if you're squeamish, it will gross you out. It's definitely leather...but it's thick. I'm wondering if the antique box was made/processed differently, and that's why it got so big and thick when it got wet? Who knows. It looks like the thickness of a thick leather leash, but it's wider and there are more pieces.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! To think that's not even ALL of it! You're so lucky you got that out of him when you did...geez! Hey...we should start a thread of pictures of things our dogs have eaten..

No joking though...that's scary to think it was inside of him. How in the world could he ever have passed it? I doubt he would have..

Sweet dreams Mr. Bentley..you'll be back to normal soon!

I bet the leather swelled a bunch (part of the problem) If it was a box it was dried until hard. Pooooor Bentley needs a cookie

He does....but he won't get one for a few weeks! I'm too nervous to give him anything other than his wet food for at least 5 days.

He did well last night, but he is so exhausted that all he does is sleep. Poor guy. Even his nemesis the weimeraner was outside barking and he just looked at him.

The weird thing is that he is sneezing/coughing/snotting a lot. I called the vet, but only spoke to the technician. They said it was normal reflux type stuff...but I don't know. I took him out just a few minutes ago and he sneezed so much and had all this mucus all over his nose.

I'm wondering if it's post intubation irritation that is causing post nasal drip? I PMd Dr. Shelli so she may know.

That is odd to me too? I'm guessing he's already on antibiotics, right? I know when Baron was neutered..he developed a throat infection from the tube and had to be on antibiotics for a bit. It can make their throats sore at the least.

I hope Bentley's doing better and perking up a bit, but who can blame him for sleeping? What an experience! Thank goodness you got that stuff out of him. I would imagine they had him intubated for quite a while, and he might be reacting to it. I'd be curious to hear Dr. Shelli's take on it.

Give the poor guy a pat for all of us!

What an ordeal. So glad it all came out OK in the end. Poor Bentley!!!! Hope he's feeling better really soon!
