Training when I'm NOT there...

I'm so sorry about Dancer. Life sure has been tough on you these past few months first with Moonshine and then Dancer. You did your best for them both I guess it just wasn't meant to be. I hope you decide to get another dog in the future. A dog would be blessed to have you as a dad.

It's so sad when we try and just aren't able to reach them. I can only imagine what Dancer's life must have been like to drive this kind of fear. Take solice in the fact that you did all you could and that to some degree Dancer saw what a wonderful friendship we creatures can offer. Dancer's life was touched by you and the care you provided, even in the short time she was with you.

I am fairly new here, but read a little bit of your story and I am sooo sorry for your loss and what you all went through. You did the right thing even though it is very sad :(

Yes, God bless you for all you have done for your furbabies. I can't even imagine how hard these last few months have been for you. I'll pray for your sadness and that St. Francis and God will find the right furbaby for you.

i'm new as well, but i've been reading. i hope you find some comfort in knowing that her last moments were with you, and that she knew that you cared (despite her outward fear). it's a small comfort, but i hope it's one that you remember and i really do hope you don't let this keep you from a new baby to love.

you are obviously a wonderful person, with a kind heart. good things will come to you, even though it may not seem like it now. any dog would be blessed to have you, and i'm sure that dancer is now peaceful and hoping you find someone new to love as well.

*sigh*
Sorry Dancer, you had such a tough life, I am glad you found a couple of months of running and playing and chasing the Frisbee and being free with Moonshine's Dad. I am very sorry your demons found you again anyhow, but glad you can now have much deserved rest.

Moonshine's Dad, no more rescues for a bit! Unless it is a Sheltie puppy between the age of 8 and 12 weeks, with no health problems :wink2: Because a man should not have to go through this twice in the same year!!!

My thoughts are with you

I just wanted to thank everyone for their words, they really do help in this situation.

I did tell my fiance in a firm manner that we are NOT getting another dog for quite sometime. When we do get a dog we are planning on finding a good breeder and getting a sheltie pup. Moonshine really did strike a chord for both of us. I understand the need of rescue but I need a break!

And yes I'm glad I was there when Dancer went, it made it hard for me but a little easier for her.
