Trick Challenge #1-March to the Music

i like the idea of a prize.
also, am enjoying doing this, i don't have video or anything, so can't show what and how learning, but it's fun for us. and that's the main thing.
and learning .

I think my original question was if it was the same challenge every month. The idea of a prize is good. Count me out for the prize though because I can't guarantee I can even get to the challenge.

Sally and I are working for the shear thrill of it all- did i really say that!? Any way i am either way about the prize aspect -a very generous offer on your part...if you feel inclined to offer a prize, that's great and if not, tha's great too. I am sincere when i say we are having fun just doing the challenge.

We're now getting alternate feet touches, but how do I start progressing onto simply lifting feet? He's so quick I don't have a chance to mark for a foot lift before contact is made. I tried lifting my feet higher but he just reaches higher:wink2:

This is fantastic though and apart from having so much fun doing the trick, it's also great becuase it's good practice for learning (for Epic and me) :biggrin2:

As far as a prize goes, I'm a little too far away (not that we're in the running anyway:lol:)

Trick Challenge

There are only a handfull of people that have said yes too the prize.Anyother takers ?Need at least 10 people. If I get no more takers by Wed.I will consider it a No.

I'm in for the prize if we have enough interest :)

Julia, I'm at the same stage. I was thinking of maybe having my husband hold the dogs on the leash, and me standing just a bit out of reach. I don't know if that would work or not, but I'm hoping that they would still reach out for me and I could click/treat.

Corbinam, I've tried putting a pole between the dog and I so it's easier for them to understand they need to be on their end when doing the trick. This confused them and Juliet was very wary of the pole (coz it would roll now and then).

I've tried sending them to a mat and getting them to stay there while I stand just away from them and asking for the behaviour. This worked abit better but I had to regularly ask them to back up to remind them to be on the mat. They keep wanting to come forward to touch my feet. Taking awhile but I might stick with this. I'm seeing some progress.. slowly!!

Those are all good ideas! I tried the leash idea and it definitely didn't work with Lexi. She spent the whole time trying to lunge at me so I quickly gave up. Then I had my husband lightly hold her haunches and that was way too distracting. I might try the pole idea, but she's not very good at giving me any space!

With Bentley, the leash idea worked really well! Here was his best attempt:

He is getting it! :biggrin2:
