Tully's not doing well

I have learned from experience that you can't second guess medical things with dogs. we do the best we can with the information we have. Since dogs can't tell us what hurts, diagnosing and treating things is pretty darn difficult. we do our best to keep our pups healthy and happy. I hope Tully has more happy times with you ahead! And strollers are the greatest. I got Gavin out to enjoy our respite from the wildfire smoke (we have had 3 days of healthy air!!!). forecast has the smoke coming back this weekend, but we have been getting in stroller walks as often as we can before we our back to being housebound. Gavin loves the stroller..it is his throne on wheels!!

She's kind of plateaued I think. We had lots of walks for the last five days while the weather was lovely. I exhausted the both of us, I'm still not up to full health either. And I should know better - just because Tully wants to walk doesn't mean Tully should walk. Over winter she got so sick she didn't want to walk anymore, so the two of us are very unfit.

Unfortunately Tully is back to eating dirt and her stools were soft so we're taking a couple of rest days and I'll see if over doing things caused the set back. Realistically, she should be back on daily steroids, but with her liver being the way it is I'm hesitant. Plus she was due to see the IMS tomorrow and I know he's thinking of trialling another immunosupressant. Unfortunately for Tully I had to cancel her appointment so I could see my physiotherapist before the physio went off for surgery. I think this is the first time in a long time I put my health before the dogs! And yea, I'm sitting here trying to restrain myself from calling the IMS back.

Well the fact that she wants to walk seems good but the dirt eating not so much. Poor little girl. I was sure hoping she'd get better after the surgery. I'm sorry you are having to juggle your own health concerns along with hers. Hope you can get in to see the IMS again and that he/she can be helpful in some way. :hugs

I understand only too well the ups and downs of managing chronic problems. I swear when I think I understand what to do to keep things at their best, something happens and I find out I am wrong! we do the best we can when we can. I gave up a long time ago wishing for things to be better and just focus on letting Gavin live his best life by letting him enjoy his life as much as he can and loving on him as much as he will let me. At different times, he surprises me with his stamina, his playfulness, and his perkiness. I no longer take any belly rub for granted, and marvel at how much joy he gets from each one. Or when he plays ball with me by bouncing a nerf ball back to me with his snout. Every walk with Tully is a gift.

every day with our shelties is a blessing... I appreciate it soo much more than I did when he was 'hole and healthy'. Give Tully a hug for me

Thank you, Cindy! I was going to comment... but after reading your response I really felt you said it better than I ever could.
I will only add to give precious Tully a kiss on the snout for me. I certainly hope your medical issues subside, Caro. Blessings to you both.

Thank you for that Cindy, I couldn't agree more!
