Welcome to your new addition and continued prayers that your beloved Justus will have many more good days/weeks/months to enjoy life.
Trini

Thank you so much, my emotions are rather large this morning and I am sure there will be critics, but even more support.
glad to hear that Justus is still playing and having fun. hope that he can teach the puppy all the good stuff that puppies need to learn:yes:

Thank you both. Justus gave him a big bark and Seger did a backwards sommersault! There is an ex pen between them, but I predict before the weekend is through that they have sniffed all appropriate parts on each other... Flyer, well, you know how he is... (roll eyes) :)

❤️❤️❤️
Sending good thoughts you way and brighter days ahead for you all! Puppies bring so much joy.

Today is a big day. Today there is a lot I am asking of myself and my dogs. Justus is doing okay, the tumor is getting larger but he is fine, even chasing the ball and initiating play with Flyer.

Today, I get a new puppy. I've been so torn apart but have a valid argument on either side and the side that won was, get the puppy.

Every day is a gift, make the most of it....

I don’t think there is anything to criticize. This will help get you through your third terrible loss. Clearly he/ she was ready and available for you now for a God given reason. Shelties (or the right dog) don’t grow on trees, the stars have to align for the right match. little guys sleep alot, still giving you time with your justice. Soooo sorry for this illness and future loss. I literally had to come back a different day to respond, i felt so bad

Such a difficult time for you, I can certainly understand getting the puppy. My last dog was a Cocker and when she was almost 15 I made the difficult decision to have her put down. Her health hadn't been good for some time, she was deaf and almost blind. I made the appointment and then went to our local chapter of the Sheltland Sheepdog Association and started looking for a puppy...Piper was born one week after my girl was gone on Easter Sunday (and the only breeder who had any pups available). Things happen for a reason for sure.

I think it will get better. Right now puppy is good at reading lips and snarls, and still pushes the buttons on Justus and Flyer. :) My good dogs have not hurt the puppy, they know that will not be allowed, and I am real careful that they wouldn't get a chance to. When I can't actively supervise, puppy is in the pen. That is a lesson I'm glad I know, too often and even being real careful a baby can get himself into trouble quickly! He doesn't know stairs yet (much to Flyer's delight!) and lord, is there anything a puppy won't try to eat!

Thanks for asking. :)

Justus had had some vomitting and discomfort this morning. I am keeping an eye on him, I think he might have been fed something at Thanksgiving yesterday and well, please Lord, no pancreatitis! I gave him a famotidine and that seems to have helped.

Yep, that curled lip and flashing those pearly whites says... that’s close enough!
Hugs to you guys!!!

Sadly, it is over. Justus passed away in the early morning, by euthanasia, Monday, January 25, 2021. I posted all about it in Sheltie Angels.

Thank you all for your comments, advice and companionship in this thread. I didn't respond with the heartfelt gratitude I feel. Sharon7, thank you, I am so sorry you know this experience. It is truly awful disease and I feel very cheated and angry it happened to him.

CalliesMom, you know I have a lot of prayers for Cranberry, and you. I hope we will get to see him soon.
