What colors/Markings are your favorites?

I love ALL sheltie colors! I don't think I've seen one that I don't like. But my three favs are blue merle, light mahogany sable, and bi blue (unless it's silver like Ember, then it's #1!:yes:). But I also absolutely LOVE all the others too, so I'm not picky. BUT, two years ago if you'd asked me if I like blue merles I would have said, "Well, they'er pretty, but only if they don't have any black on they'er face." Now I think the black adds to they'er beauty and character, and is just gorgeous! But like I said before, my favorite bi blue is still silver with little to no black.

I prefer blazes or stars, but I think Ida's all brown face is also supper cute. I got her partly for her sweet face and little blaze, then it it disappeared as she got older. Full collars are very nice, but I do love bi blacks that only have a white chest, and also F-kap's colar which isn't full but has very pretty black and sable streaks through it (but I'm also biased:winkgrin:).
 
I love blue merles with big patches. I'm not a huge fan of the mostly grey/mostly black merles. I also love a big blaze and full collar.

Although if I got a sable our hair color would match! :lol:
 
Sables are my favorite. I think they have the softest expressions. Of course--my first sheltie was a sable, as are my current pups so I'm definitely biased!

After that, it's merles and bi-blues (no blue eyes, though!), then bi-blacks with a little white on the face please :). Tris are last, I believe they have often the harshest expressions (maybe it's be eyebrows?) though I have seen a few that I really love.
 
When I first started Sheltie shopping in 2009 I wanted a merle - didn't know bi-blue existed. Once I saw that there was no going back.

Now that Trace has become my angel, another bi would be just too difficult, so looking to bring home a sable boy this summer.

Regardless of color - they are all so beautiful!
 
I do agree about the soft sweet sable expression. Melli can look cute or harsh depending on her eyes/ears/head tilt. I have gone from merle to thinking the next will be a sable or sable merle, when the time comes. I haven't given Melli all her potential yet.
 
Oh its sables and tri's for me. Always loved the really shaded sables with black backs. I fell in love with Fillion's mother 'cause she was so dark....and I look down at my boy lying here with no black whatsoever on his back! LOL Maybe he will darken a bit as he ages, but if not I don't give a rip--he's my baby.:biggrin2:
 
My favs are blue merle or sables with full white collars and high white on the legs.

Least favorite is black (tri or bi) although I'm not opposed to the color as much as worrying about keeping them black for the shows. My dogs like to play outside and sunbathe and the few blacks I'm had end up getting rusty looking.
 
Blue merle is definitely my favorite. But expression matters too. Some dogs just have this...insightful look on their faces. A certain depth. I like that.
 
The bi blues are what first drew me into shelties. Then I saw a merle. I love both of them and I'm anxiously waiting for my puppy to arrive. Two litters with bi blues and merles are due in a few months and one of them will be for me! I'm excited, but the wait is so long.......
