What is wrong with this dog (structurally)?

It's a gorgeous dog. Just looks to me that the back legs aren't positioned right for the picture..almost like he/she's getting ready to go into a "sit" position. Beautiful dog though.

This is what I think, as well. He looks like he is leaning back on his hind quarters. Movement is the best way to view structure in a dog when you can't touch them.

That was my thought, that he had his legs in a position to jump or move, making him looked different. I don't think he would be shown if there was anything structurally wrong with him.

The dog is posting, which is like bracing the front legs in opposition to a leash being pulled. The front is straight, but probably not as much as we think because he is posting, and the picture isn't completely side-on. But his front legs don't seem to be underneath his body.

The rear is way underneath him. If he just had a flying leap or spring, then that would make sense, or if he jumped right after the picture. If not, then the rear is set wrong. If the handler moves his feet back to where they belong (hocks perpendicular), and the dog brings them back to this position, there is something wrong. Otherwise it's just a training issue, the rest of his rear looks fine. But from a single picture, you can't really tell.

I think the neck is fine, the hair is deceiving.

Just my opinion, but:

-- not enough neck
-- rear leg angulation too straight
-- topline too arched; may be a function of the grooming (put a damp towel on that bum)

Again, I agree; might be the angle of the shot.

Very interesting, everyone!

I can say that I took a picture of this dog because his structure looked "off" to me. So it's not just the one picture--he really did look like this.

I should post a photo of Toby for everyone to judge, just out of curiosity. He came from a puppy mill originally and his structure to me looks awful. He is very awkward looking compared with Sadie and Ginny, but I love him for how goofy and awkward he is.

Just evaulating the dog as it stands in this photo, it appears:
Straight front, giving the added impression of a short neck
Very soft or weak rear. Almost down on his haunches. From a straight on rear view of this position, the dog would appear cow-hocked.
Deep in the back-skull.

OMG! This looks like Indy....I call him Danny Devito ( because of his short neck)

Seriously though, I don't know if the issue is the pose or his actual structure, but it looks like his front legs are too far forward (almost looking inverse).

These aren't perfect shots of Indy, but you can see his short neck, but his legs seem to be in proper position.

My first impression was the back legs, but I am basically clueless! But I wish my boys fur looked like his!
