When it rains, it pours

Poor Tully and you, really hope she will come soon

Could it be triggered by all the stress she has had throughout the terrible process with Deska ?

The emergency vet asked that too. But actually, since we picked up Deska's coffin she's been better, she's even barked the last couple of days. It's like going to the hospital and not seeing Deska gave her closure. Plus she was pretty much sick as soon as she started that new batch of the food, she seemed to be better when I gave her home cooked chicken and pumpkin for a few days. But it's been too hot to cook so I gave her the commercial salmon again and bam, she's sick.

There is very little information about the company that makes this product - the company is called Prime100. They were lucky to fill a gap in the market - we don't have limited ingredient/single protein products here so to do an elimination diet you always had to cook it yourself and source novel meats. Problem is, there's no information about the qualifications of the people who own or run the company (other than it's Australian) or how it's manufactured (other than they follow US pet food codes).

Anyway, overnight stay and I asked to pick her up early so I could take her to the local Sheltie meet up.

I was so sad to read that Tully was ill, let alone so ill that she needed an emergency hospital stay!

I sure hope you can pick her up today and she feels well enough to enjoy the local Sheltie meetup group.

Good detective work to isolate the new food was the culprit! Hopefully, she will be on the mend soon and not have another episode.

Pancreases is so scary! When my Laddie had it he was in ICU for 4 days!

Hugs to you and little Tully!

I'm glad you found a cause, Caro, and that she'll recover. It sure sounds like the food was the culprit. Are there any other brands you can use, or is home cooking an option? I do mine in a crock pot so it's easy and I don't have to use the stove. All the ingredients go in at once until it's done. At least then you know what she's getting. Pats to Tully! I'm happy she'll be coming home.

I agree with Ann, perhaps a home cooked diet (using slow cooker) would be beneficial. Your right Caro about a lack of info on the food you feed (I looked them up) aside from their own webpage. I also can't understand the benefits of adding bamboo fibre to dog food (aside from the bulk) but probably zero nutritional value. Your right about a lack of regulation there regarding dog food!

So happy you'll be able to pick her up in the morning, I'm sure Tully will be very happy!
Hopefully she'll be up to the meet and greet.

Yowza Caro - so not fair to now have Tully sick!! Definitely sounds like the culprit is the food. I really struggled with Ally's chronic pancreatitis but it sounds like an acute case for Tully which she should overcome. I'm so sorry to know you had to turn around and go right back to the same vet ER. It must have been so tough emotionally. Sending you healing thoughts and hope she is now home with you. :fl :hugs

Funny thing, I did always cook for them. The vet put Deska on it when he kept getting sicker, then the specialist said to keep Tully on it until he could do an endoscopy. I do need a commercial brand I can give people to feed when I'm in hospital. Home cooked meals while I'm around anyway. She'll be on chicken and pumpkin until we see the Internal specialist in a couple of weeks.

When I arrived Tully was barking her little head off. Seems she'd been barking since she woke up. Went to the Sheltie meet up but she wasn't that keen, now she's flaked out in front of the door - one tired little puppy.

You could always do fresh cooked and just freeze into ziplock bags in small portions for when your in hospital and others need to feed her.
Hopefully you can find something that works for you.
So glad Tully is home!

I had frozen meals for the dogs when I went into hospital, but none of the minders would use them, either they didn't have room in their freezer or didn't have time to defrost. So I had to organise a stock of commercial food. I've not found any commercial foods that work for them since Wellness Simple was taken off the market. It is so incredibly hard being on my own because acquaintances are so much less accommodating. Makes it hard to think about getting a puppy. Awful that I might have to find a partner just so I can get another dog!:rolleyes2:

It just is so difficult to read the challenges you are facing and we are so far away and being unable to help!

Believe me, being single myself I can relate! I guess I have not focused on finding a new partner since my divorce cause I have not found anyone who could love my dogs and me as a package deal!

Bless all those here on Sheltie Nation that have husbands that are tolerant of their Sheltie addiction!

I always figured it was better to be single being happy with my Shelties than be married and not have my boys.

Hope you find some folks that can have compassion enough to help you! Hugs!
