Brad, congrats on Fletcher's wins! It sounds like he is really coming into himself. You must be thrilled!
Fletcher went out with Karan Aurelius for the first time last weekend. A small show in Marion, Illinois, there were five males that showed on Saturday, six on Sunday. I think it was 3-4 bitches, and 1 special bitch. He went WD/BW/OS for one and two points
My mom got a puppy from the breeder judyq is talking about. He is a big breeder but well cared for especially for a kennel. Better than some who are hobby breeders. He is healthy, wondeful temperament and noce example of the breed. He also has regular litters. I am in fresno and will have to drive hours to get a puppy but I do know other names. Most have 1-2 litters a year so you woukd have to wait.
the Altoona Area Kennel Association has members that compete in various activities with their shelties.
I actually live in Alabama now and visit PA twice a year...

I do really hope you do not have to do surgery! Poor little Dante...
I know degenerative disc disease is so difficult to treat. My first female sheltie had it and she was 14.5 years old when she became totally paralyzed by it. I opted out of surgery due to her age. I hope your little man keeps going with minimal discomfort. I know it must be hard keeping him contained. Give his a kiss from me. I Always wanted a pom!
Thanks for asking about Dante. He had been doing super well...off pain meds and just gotten off preds in the last 10 days. This morning he suddenly yelped in pain again even though he is still in an x-pen to totally limit activity. Our vet warned us that it is typical for repeat flare ups to occur with degenerative disc disease and at some point the only option may be surgery. Surgery that messes with the spine really scares me. Dante is so full of energy that we can't force him to live in a tiny x-pen with repeated pain for the rest of his life...he is only about 7 years old and Pommies typically live past 14.

So, we just keep going day to day as we try to figure out what is going to be the fairest choice for our little black bear so he can have a happy life.

Dante sends you a big Pommie hug.

Trini
