We've always used 4 foot chain link. It keeps the dogs in and unwanted visitors out. But all our dogs keep very close off leash, and we don't really have to worry that they'll stray. That said, every Sheltie is different, and apparently some are, indeed, flight risks. So, responsible rescue...

Celtic sounds like he's at the top of the class--what a super puppy. The class sounds like fun, with lots of good homework. We have a trainer in the area who does a Star Puppy class--it's an AKC format, I think. Might it be similar to Super Puppy class?
