Ann: I'm sorry to say that I can't figure out how to start a new post. I have looked at FAQ's and asked Granite, but I'm old and not very computer literate. Also, I don't know if it's okay to ask if anybody knows of any inexpensive shelties available for rescue or sale in California. Would that be okay?

Barkley has long legs and is taller than both my girls, but I'll have to take a look at his neck and see if it's like Bacca's. I am so glad you have The Prance too! The Husband calls it the "fairy trot," LOL.

Oooooh, I so know the post op problems. I do not envy you. How long do Bacca's staples have to stay in? My vet uses a combo of dissolvable and regulat stitches but still likes to remove the dissolvable ones.

Speaking of Pixie, and surgery, we found out on Friday that she will need surgery for her golf-ball sized lump. Vet thinks it's a hernia but isn't sure and doesn't want to take chances. I have to get it done sooner rather than later because hubby was told on Friday he is getting laid off so our lives could be changing very drastically. He's a banker and there are no jobs anywhere right now in this country. Time to move to Canada, methinks.

We had a nice, warm day here today too! But another big snowstorm coming on Tuesday. Oh boy.

Yes, you did well with the ears. I'm still thinking about giving one last try with Bacca, but everytime I think about hauling out the glue and the moleskin, I suddenly get a fit of laziness!

As for the photos....the beauty of digital! So many rejects that noone but me ever sees! Getting the boys to "pose" is a trick. The fact is I can't. I either lurk around corners with camera in hand trying to catch them being cute or wait for them to be too tired to bother. Otherwise, as soon as I bring out the camera, they both instantly run up close to me and push their snouts into the lens! I think I'm going to need to a "macro lens" if I'm ever going to get good shots of the silly boys!

Post-op! Boys are driving me crazy! Today is a gorgeous winter day by Canadian standars - about 32 degrees and sun coming and going. The boys have whining all day to go out and play together, but I can only let them out one at a time. Bacca keeps trying to do more than he should and doesn't get it when I tell him to settle. His incision looks a little pink and I'm watching it close. For some reason the vet put "staples" instead of dissolvable sutures and it looks very freakish to me.

And you are so right about the prance! Bacca has exactly the same gait! When we were at puppy school in the late fall and he did his "thing", all the other owners would actually clap!

One other thing I noticed today about Bacca....he's probably only about 1/2 inch taller than Indy at the whithers, but his neck is so much longer than when they stand side by side, his head is probably a good 1-2 inches taller. I'd have to take a look at the standard to see if that's a good thing or not.

p.s. Pixie is such a doll!

Quiet day and I was just surfing through everyone's pics of their pups! I stopped at Barkley again and more and more I see strong family traits between Barkley and Bacca (not the ears, though!). How old is Barkley now? Bacca is over 10 months now, quite long in body and a fairly heavy bone structure. Also might be what is termed a "red sable" - I note Barkley seems to have alot of the same characteristics, but its hard to tell from photos. Even the thin white stripe up the nose and the more definite head shape.

All your furkids are lovely! And each one so different from the other!

Thank you; I just love shelties and I can't get enough of them. I'm terribly addicted to this site right now...I'm always running back to the computer and looking for new posts. Right now I'm tearing my hair out because YouTube is down for some reason and my cousin was wanting to look at the puppy videos. She just lost her longtime companion collie mix to old age and is considering one of my puppies as her new companion. WAKE UP YOUTUBE!! LOL, I'll calm down eventually (probably not).

I so loved your photo album! I particularly like the "breakfast buddies" and the Christmas shots; but all are beautiful. You're a great photographer

Well, thank you for this! It's painful getting pictures of these guys! Every time I bring out the camera they just get stupid on me and come running right at me! So I keep trying to surprise them! I lurk around corners, trying to catch them! I feel like a stalker most of the time.

It's been a few days now, Chris, and I am astounded at how well it works. We've missed a few times because I've been tied up with assignments the last day or so, but even so I see a difference. So glad to hear Jax is working out for you!!

BTW must ask...were you in Washington yesterday? Wow, what a day. I had the chance to go cover it and opted to do local here instead. Standing out in the cold for 5-7 hours with one porta potty for every 300 people would not work for Moi....

That's great news! Jax is improving every day. He had one episode when Layla went after a toy that he and my sister were playing with. But he didn't chase her down, just chased her off. No problems since then. Yes, my pal Sheila is brilliant!
