Best time to go emergency vet?

not much to say, but he stronger than he was a week ago. I have a ruffwear flagline harness (4 point clip on), and before he would end up sitting/sliding down when I put it on cause it takes a while. Now he can stay up while I put it on. I know it doesnt sound like a lot, but he is able to balance much better now.

Oh..and Gavin is a clingy boy! He never has been before, but tonite I had a zoom thing (my zoom set up is a makeshift desk) and he was not happy unless he was sitting on my lap. of course, now he's on the couch next to me and purring for me

I guess now I know I can't really leave Gavin. Good thing the pandemic means I'm not travelling. I do know at 16, It'll be unlikely to be an issue even come this December (when he'd be 17). I am trying not to go down the rabbit hole of blaming the boarding place, but Gavin is definitely NOT going back there (even after 15 years of going there). He was quite frail and listless when I picked him up, no way it was only one missed meal. It has literally taken over 3 weeks to get him to a good place, and we aren't quite back to where he was before either. Good thing he is such a sweetheart of a dog (albeit a stubborn one at times, I often have to carry him inside from the dog potty area because he wants to stay out and explore)

Well at his age it wouldn't take much to have him go backwards. So glad to hear of continued improvement. I wish we lived closer Cindy, I'm about 6 hours south of you, because we'd love to host Gavin here. But yes there comes a time when it's best to not leave them because no-one else has all the insight into his issues that you do. Hugs to you both.
