Bi blue Sheltie lost at the Topsfield Mass show--FOUND SAFE!

Please i hope they don't wait to long! What could be worse then her getting away and never been seen again! Just grab her!!!! I 'm sorry i just get so upset when i hear things like this.

its not that simple that is the problem you get close and she takes off...they are better off doing what they have been doing just sitting and waiting I know its hard but in the end thats the only way they will catch her, chasing after her is just going to freak her out and she'll be back running again and end up who knows where. Atleast where she is at right now its a somewhat safe area, they know where she is...its frustrating but there is not much else to do...

Even the remote chance of thinking to grab her,and then not succeding will send that dog in a whirl of certain fear. She is feral righ now.

What they are doing is the absolute best. They are close, lets just all stay positive that soon she will go in the trap.
She is on a millionaires estate, they know the circumstances, and are being helpful. So for now she is ok.

It's great that she's going in her crate. We thought of attaching a long rope to the door of a large kennel where our escaped sheltie would go. We were hoping she would go in, go to sleep & we could then yank the rope & close the door. The rope would have to be long enough to reach an area where someone could hide from Party. It didn't work for us because our sheltie never went into the kennel. It's like she knew we wanted her to.

Patience is the key. It's hard to do but doing the wrong thing is worse. Does any animal control have a net gun? I don't know if it would work due to the woods but it might be an option. Here's a link to info on it. http://vimeo.com/35245356 I am not a big fan but when you run out of options you try just about anything humane that won't make the situation worse. Believe me I tried all kinds of crazy stuff trying to catch our escaped sheltie. When Party does get caught she will need some special care to get her back to herself so maybe she won't be too traumatized by some of these other options.

This may sound too far fetched but I would get a sleeping bag and put it next to her crate and get in it where she couldn't see a person in it but could smell you. Well I think you know where this is going .....

That's a darn good suggestion. She is definately looking to familiar human scent or she wouldn't be going into a crate. She is also discerning a crate from a trap, one a familiar and safe place, the other is an unknown. It sounds like she is too afraid to trust moving people - maybe chased when she first got loose. This way she gets to make the decision to approach.

I saw a catching of a hard to catch dog by bringing in portable fencing. The area the dog frequented was enclosed and the portable gate quickly shut when the dog was inside busy eating. I think I saw this capture on pit bulls and parolees.

Party Update

The news is better than it was last night, at least. Yesterday some dogs chased Party across the highway away from the area she was staying in and no one knew where she was.

Today she's been sighted twice so they know where she is again, back near her old spot. There's a team working to capture her now and they're hopeful that the end is in sight.

I sure hope it's soon, and this little girl is on her way home to her owner!
