Chronic tummy problems

I know that when it is Gavin's time, I want him laying on my chest and snoozing.
But we don't always get to choose.

I hope Deska starts improving, but we are all here for you no mater what.
 
Continuing to send thoughts of strength for you to get through this, Caro. Truly we are all in it with you, and hope you feel supported. We've all been through this in some fashion. This is when I wish they could talk to us, easing the burden of decision making on their behalf.
 
Well bit of a turn of events, they said he may be able to come home.

Deska was standing up in his cage this morn, which they hadn't seen, and they didn't give him pain relief this morn (altho I think they should have). The biliruben and liver readings are still extremely high but lower than when he came in. I took him for a walk in the stroller and he was sooooo happy, but only last about 5 min before needing a nap - in my arms sitting at a bus stop by a busy road. Then we walked back and he lay down but watched. When we got back to the hospital the smile went. I am sure some of this is just because he's so desperate to get out.

I am a bit worried about getting adequate pain relief. He'll have to be tube fed as well. l love visiting him in hospital, but he's obviously not happy there. If I can get proper pain meds then really we've got nothing to lose, if he takes a turn for the worst at home that doesn't matter, at least he got to go home. Well it sort of does matter, because I'll have to race him to the emergency vet again.

Thanks. Not expecting much, if he can make it to chrismas that's a bonus. But enough time to be happy at home is all I ask for

Time to do a bucket list. And the nice thing is he can see Santa at the pet shop if he's up to it. We'll be hitting cafes, pet shops, Bunnings (hardware) and visits from the many human friends he accumulated (he was a very social dog). But top of the list is cuddles with mum.

NEWS FLASH: Picking him up at 8.30 in the morning. Not allowed to visit tonight as there's big storms and the hosp is expecting to be busy. He is such a tough bloody dog. I know we say Shelties are 'soft' but they are actually really courageous.

Cuddles with mum and being spoiled every second is what he needs now and will eat up with gusto!

Yes, indeed, Shelties are courageous and stoic.

Wonderful fantastic news Caro! I'm so happy that he's going home to be with his mom and Tully!
