Chronic tummy problems

Tully has IBD.

I decide to see the internal medicine specialist because Tully also gets intermittent diarrhea and vomiting, going back a long time. And seeing as we're already at the specialist (and he is also consulting on Deska)...God I wish I had seen a specialist years ago, think of the money I'd have saved and the less stress on the dogs' bodies. So both my dogs had IBD - wonder if it was all the scavenging over the years. At some point Tully will need an endoscopy to see if there's any damage, but atm the focus is on Mr D.

I didn't get to see Mr D this morning, they wouldn't let me (too busy). The said come back after lunch - although I really wanted to see him then come home and have a good sleep before going in tonight. I want to check his breathing and speak to the surgeon to see if it's worth fighting to get him home. So I'm having half an hour kip then back to the other side of town.

I just realised - the posts I sent from my mobile phone are not going through. So quick update from last night. I was at vet until 1.30am, his breathing was laboured and I thought it may be time. That's why I wanted to check him today and make a decision.

oh Caro, how heartbreaking is it to read all the things Deska and you are through - you are a wonderful mom

As Ann and Trini write - you know your Deska better than anyone and your instinct and your love for him will help you can make whatever is the right decision

One good thing about being human - we and only we have the opportunity to make very difficult decisions so our beloved best fur friends should not suffer unnecessarily.

Caro you are not alone we are many who think and cry with you :hugs

Deska's temp is normal, his breathing is normal, but he is very weak. He can't go far before having to lay down and sleep.

I've kind of made a decision. If he hasn't improved by Friday, which will be a week since his surgery, I should let him go.

This afternoon we sat outside, he walked there but after about 5min fell asleep on the concrete. I left him there for a while because he was happy. Tonight I'm going to take his stroller and take him for a walk, probably not far because it's an industrial area. Wish I'd thought of the stroller earlier. Thunder and heavy rain for at least Thurs, so he can't go out (and he's scared of thunder), Friday may also be rain and thunder so will see. I want him to be in the back of the car when he goes, so he's outside, out of the hosp and at least thinking he's going home. God that sounds so awful.

I don't want him to go.
