Colon Cancer

Sorry to hear Dakota still isn't feeling well. I hope the specialist will be able to heal Dakota. We will continue to keep Dakota and your family in our thoughts.

My parents scheduled an appt. Tues with the specialist in Charlotte to determine what is going on with Dakota. There is 1 pill they prescribed but really tore his GI tract up. My parents decided first, then the Dr., to take him off of it because he lost his appetite and was really sick. Dakota still is not eating...my dad is feeding him through syringes (still drinking water as normal). We don't know if the cancer has progressed or if the pill gave him ulcers. Our family is really upset and are hoping the problem can be corrected. If the cancer has progressed...down the road we will have to make one tough decision. Please just pray that we receive great news about Dakota. My family loves Dakota very much and really can't bear the thoughts of anything happening to him!! Dakotas really needs prayer!!! Thanks

I'm sorry to hear that Dakota doesn't want to eat. Did the vet say anything about giving him tums or tagament? It might help his stomach feel better. I know that I was giving Zoe a half of a tums with every meal. Just something they might want to ask about. I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers.

Thoughts and prayers remain with Dakota !

Becky, I'm so sorry that Dakota has developed the eating problem due to the chemo. I pray that the specialist can help Dakota out and get him back on track.

An update on Dakota~

It comes with great sadness, that I am posting this letter to let all of our sheltie families here on the forum,a sad update about Dakota~

Just wanted to let you know we had to put Dakota down last night around 10pm. I am at the hospital with my mom and cannot get on the sheltie forum. Our hearts are broken but Dakota is at peace. As you know this is really difficult so please pray for me and my family. We didn't lose a pet...we lost a family member. Thank you for your prayers for Dakota...he fought till the very end. Thanks

Lets all keep this family in our thoughts and prayers. I'm sure once Becky has had a moment to give details, she will post. Her mom is recuperating from surgery, and is spending her time with her mom.

Oh, Michele...I'm so sorry. We knew that the prognosis was not good, but I did not think it would progress so fast. I suppose you could say it was a blessing that Dakota did not live long in pain, but anyone who has lost a dog knows that you are NEVER ready for their passing.

Hugs to you and your family!
