Dog Wheelchair

So glad to hear of good continuous progress with his wheels. It does open such possibilities for you. I've certainly been glad to have the pet stroller myself!

we have gotten lots of use out of ours, too! It is also easier for dogs to adapt to. I put a comfy pad it in and Gavin just loves to lay there and take everything in :)
The wheelchair is work....we space out of walks by a day and half to 2 days now and that seems to help.

So this morning we went super far, over a mile and a half in an hour. I think next week we will try walking to our local park as opposed to me using the stroller. And if that goes well we will try walking over the freeway to the baseball diamond as opposed to me driving. His favorite walks will always be a short drive away, but just having options makes me feel so much better inside :) I even got a happy bark when I got home, Gavin telling me he wants his belly rub and dinner!

Oh and this morning we met a woman and her dog who is having surgery for a blown MCL soon. she was intrigued by the cart and I explained the benefits and I thought it would be helpful after surgery as I know so many dogs blowout their good leg during recovery.

It's always better when you have lots of variety, I'm sure even Gavin would get bored doing the same walk over and over again.
That's wonderful that you guys walked that far, Gavin must've had a great time!
My sister had gotten a stroller for her last dog (Bichon) when she blew her ACL and she still uses it now with her other 2 dogs. They love it!

On a side note, I have a client with a very overweight Bichon cross who I KNOW has blown his ACL. This dog has been favoriting his hind leg for a month. I can't believe how or why a vet wouldn't X-ray the leg after a month. No, she says it's a sprain and it'll take a few months to heal, even told her to walk the dog! No medication at all for the dog (aside for Metacam for first 2 weeks which did nothing). Angers me to see the dog suffering. My client says 'oh the vet said he's healthy'...ya, he's 10 pounds overweight (weighs 23, should weigh 12), she's never seen the dog before and did no blood work! But he's healthy lol.

Just my rant lol.

Gavin has seen many different vets, and they all do the drawer test first thing as a blown ACL is suspect with any rear leg limping.
At this point, if he had a blown ACL it would have healed somewhat if not entirely considering all the rest he has had (It has been 15 months).
He still toe touches although I think his muscles are getting a tad stronger since he is walking further.
The dog we met with a blown ACL was carrying the hurt leg in the air and hopping, something Gavin has never done.

Oh I wasn't saying Gavin might...just a rant of mine about a clients dog lol. (She's quite elderly)
Perhaps I've just been through so much with Riley it irks me when this lady says her dog is healthy. She says 'oh well he's not crying in pain' ...and yet he won't use that leg lol. And he's obese. Lol

I wasn't implying that..just that I am surprised the vet didn't do a drawer test immediately.
It really is the first thing they suspect when a dog starts limping like that

We are in the midst of 2 weeks of rain, so we get out when we can. And trails are all super muddy.
Gavin went further than we ever have, and there were some little hills :) Now he is sleeping next to me.
