Here is the latest FB update from Southland Sheltie Rescue. 6 dogs total have been turned over to the rescue. They are all very sick.
The pictures of these new boys are on the FB page. I couldn't get them
to save tonight. After all, I am technology challenged!
Ok, Guys! Lots of news today! Sorry it took so long. The first news, is....We now have three more boys! All of them are sick, too, but we think they will all pull through.
We have a cute little Tri boy, a darling sable boy, and a beautiful blue boy.
The really cute little Tri (Marcus, 11 years old) is just new today. When I started writing this update, we were hoping that he was the healthiest of the bunch. Kathy and Judi (btw, these girls are such troopers! They have been on the road morning to night for two days!) dropped him off at the vets, and then were called quickly to say he was being transferred to the Emergency vet to be on IVs through the weekend. He is in critical condition, with kennel cough, fever and pneumonia and needs the 24 hour care that only an emergency vet can provide.
The little sable boy (Teddy, 6 years old) is super friendly, a real tail wagger, and he is at the vets now with kennel cough and who knows what else! We will find out soon.
The blue boy (Waylon, 7 years old) is also really sick, not sure if he has pneumonia, but he has kennel cough and very bad diarrhea. He is a lovely boy, but doesn't feel well at all right now. We are hoping that he feels better as the day goes on and will check up on him in the morning.
The best news is that Kiara is doing wonderfully! She looks great and all her vitals are normal. She is eating well and is "perky"! She is on antibiotics and low thyroid meds, and is being treated for hookworms. But her prognosis is great, and we couldn't ask for more than that for this darling girl!
Our first two blue boys, Wyatt and Walden, are still slowly getting better but are still at the vet hospital. Judi and Kathy didn't get home soon enough to get an update on them today, but we will get one tomorrow.
Now that we have 6 dogs, all but one still requiring ongoing hospital care, we are officially in financial dire straits! I am not sure how we are going to pull this off, but it is what we do, and we will not turn our backs on these precious dogs who deserve so much. If they were all healthy, that would be easy, but in this case....we are dealing with some serious medical challenges with these babies. And....there may be more to come. We really do believe that all of them can pull through and will have every chance to have a wonderful new life for years to come. I hate to remind everyone again as you have been so generous, but we are getting new readers all the time...so I just want to remind everyone that we have a Paypal donation button on the top of this page, and on the right side of our website page www.adoptasheltie.com. More when I know it! Thanks a million! ~Kathleen

Hoping everyone can lend a bit of financial assistance even if we can not be there in person to help.
