Edan sick again :(

Wow! Edan has been through quite an ordeal, as have you! I'm so glad he is on his road to recovery. Does he get to come home today??

Give him a big hug from me and sheltie kisses from Meggie and Cooper!

How's CJ reacting to his absence?

I am so relieved that he's doing well and that the emerg. vets were able to determine what was wrong with him. What lucky timing, to discover that his gall bladder was diseased before it became a problem. It DOES sound like he has a guardian angel!

So, the question now is, will you be returning to your regular vet? My guess is that will be a big NO. Imagine if you'd continued waiting!

Can't wait for the next update and I'm so excited for you that he'll be coming home soon. :smile2:

I don't really have a big update since I haven't spoken to the attending vet yet. I did talk to a tech and he did eat something, "gobbled it down" were the words used, and he's been very happy to see everyone and go out to potty and poop.

Actually, I don't hold any animosity or blame on the vet at the office I usually go to. (For the record, my normal vet is actually on leave in Germany with her husband who is deployed there until September.) The vet I was working with at my normal vets office was going off of the information he had on hand and treating according to the information he had. I'm sure even Dr. Shelli will say that's the best any of them can do.

When I had my follow up call with him after finishing the Cerenia, there was NO hesitation to send him for to the emergency clinic for further and more detailed exams; I didn't even have to ASK if they should be done.

The people at the my normal vet's office really have not given me reason to look for someone else.

Oh, ok. My understanding was that they were under concerned, but I guess I'm just getting mixed up. But even if that's true I guess it doesn't matter, since the vet you saw isn't your regular vet anyway. :smile2:

That is great news that he gobbled down his food, such a good sign. I was wondering the same thing about going back to your vet. But I understand your point and true they can only judge by what they see at present time.

I am very glad that Edan did well with surgery and that they got to the bottom of his problem how fortunate they were to find the gallbladder disease. Something you just have to follow your gut and act. SO glad you did.

Here is some info on the kind of gallbladder disease sheltie get it is called a gallbladder mucocele.

Thanks for that article. I have to admit, it was scary and really great (all at the same time) to read it.

Also, glad to hear Edan "gobbled up" his food. That's a good sign. Hope he gets to come home today. Or at least early tomorrow.

reading this now I do remember you sending me this info when Chandlers Gallbladder was inflamed in his Ultrasound. Great info for all of us to be aware of.

I am so sorry that you and Edan have had such an ordeal but so happy for you that the problem was discovered and treated. Wishing Edan all the best for a quick recovery.

I've been on the edge of my seat reading this thread all at once. I am so glad it all worked out but it sure looks like everything happened for a reason in retrospect. A hand was guiding the whole thing. What a good mom you are and hugs for your fur baby. Good work for the emergency vet. Have to remember this story in case anything like this happens to my fur baby. Not eating -- blockage. I have seen this on emergency vets. Can we all calm down now?
