Ellie's in Crisis

She's home!!!
She's HOME!! We called the ER clinic every hour ALL night and each time we called, we got a little bit better report. At first, they were very cautious and guarded on whether she would even make it through the night! It eventually went from that, to, she will probably live through the night, but she will have to go straight to our vet ASAP because she will need continuing emergency medical support. At 1:00 am when we called, we could hear her barking in the background. A very good sign! At 2:00 am they said she was making a good turn around and that they took her out and she peeped and pooped. At 4 AM they said her vital signs were NORMAL!!! HOORAY! At 6:30 AM, she was hysterical with joy to see Richard at the ER vet. She was jumping up and wagging and "grinning." Her vital signs were still normal and her lab work showed nothing alarming. It was recommened that she go to our vet for contuned observation and they gave us a print-out of the nights events to give to our vet.
Richard took her to our vet and she was jumping, and wiggly and happy and acting just fine--well, with the exception of a "river" of an accident in the lobby and then again in the waiting room and a poopy incident too. All that IV fluid and charcoal was too much for her little body to handle. Richard asked if we could observe her at home rather than have her at the vets, AGAIN, in a cage and have her go through the anxiety of separation from us AGAIN. We llive about a four-minute drive away if anything bad happens, so the vet took her vitals and they were normal, so he gave the ok to watch her at home! HORRAY!
When she first came home she had to poop literally ever four minutes or so and urinate very frequently. She did the "zoomies" (crazy running in big joyful circles at full speed) as soon as she hit the back yard. Barking the whole time. Her bark is very hoarse because she had to have a tube down her throat to get the charcoal in her and she has also been barking her displeasure of being in the ER clinic! She is VERY happy to be home. She now has a shaved right leg to match her shaved left leg due to an new IV site. Talk about a goofy looking dog! LOL!
Richard and I are both totally exhausted as neither has slept all night. We are taking turns napping while the other watched Ellie like a hawk. She is spending a lot of time snoozing in sun spots.
Thanks for all the prayers on our behalf! I cannot express how much this community has helped us! I am so very, very grateful! It looks like she will make a full recovery. I will need to ask the vet if this incident will cause any long-term effects for her. But, that will happen tomorrow--I need to sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep. ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Thank God. I am so happy that she has pulled through so well. Sounds like Ellie is happy to be home.

Seriously though, Cindy & I had you & Ellie in our thoughts all night & today. Very glad to hear Ellie is OK, although she might need a nicotine patch since she's a pack a day cig eater.

OH thank God. I am still crying with relief and happiness. (I could not get through the post because I was tearing up so much) Get some much needed rest and keep us all informed as to her progress. Now, I can get some work done around here, without checking into the forum every five minutes!

What a huge relief for you. Get some rest and give that little Ellie some hugs from all of us. Will she be napping with you up on your bed ???
