First Puppy!!!

When CHIP came home

Our drive home was about 3 hours. Chip vomited twice I think. We decided to put a "Dog Hammock" in the back seat of the car, it worked beautifully.

Chip is growing so fast, he will be 6 months old tomorrow. My wife attended to the sleepless nights for the most part. She says it was just like having another baby. I tease her to this day because when we leave the house she cannot wait to get back home to CHIP.

In another month or so you will forget how aggravating the getting up in the middle of the night was.

Your Tri baby is precious. Her markings are similar to CHIP'S. Enjoy her and love her, the "Re-Payment" from the pup will be almost more than you can understand some times.

Update:

Kali is wonderful! She slept quietly through the night, not a peep. I woke up at around 6-ish wondering if she was even alive, LOL. When I went to her crate she was awake and patiently waiting for me to move and let her out :)

She went potty outside, no accidents yet.

Pics!

She is just lovely and I think the name Kali is wonderful. I can see a lot of wonderful collars and leads and such to give her the royal treatment. I LOVE buying for a girl!

What a good little girl. You are going to be glad you got her, even though I know you had some doubts about a female in the beginning. These little girls are so precious...she will be your best friend and so deeply bonded to you and feel your every mood.

You are so right Trini. My Kali is perfect and I would not change her for any other puppy.

Kali slept through the night once again, yay! she is very energetic and smart (learned sit in like 5 minutes).

Today we both go a big scare; I set up a baby gate in the kitchen and it seems like it was not tight enough because Kali made it fall on her she was playing near it, i guess she somehow moved it). I remember I had my head turned for like 5 seconds and suddenly I hear a big BOOM and her crying. I immediately ran to her and picked her up. She calmed down and stopedd crying but when I put her down she was limping slightly :( My guess is the gate fell on her and hit her paw, I don't think anything is broken (I repeatedly held her paw, added presssure to it and she never reacted or cried) but it really scared me (and her I'm sure).

I feel awful now :( I'm at work now, left her in her crate sleeping until I get back later. Can't stop thinking about her.

I am sure your baby will be OK. I know the scare. Cubby took a fall yesterday and was limping for a couple hours. By evening he was back to the zoomies again.

You wanted at add some gray hair, right? Pups and babies will do that to you.

Sorry about the gate accident. I am sure Kali will be just fine, but if by chance she is still limping tomorrow I would have your vet check her just to make sure there isn't an injury that needs tending to. She may be nervous near the gate for a bit, if so sit with her by the gate while you feed her, play with her and give her treats. She will soon associate happy things with the gate and get past any fear she might have left over from the accident.

Hugs to you wee lass. :smile2:

I'm not having kids, I can't take the worry, lol.

I never had to worry with Loki because, well, cat. But to hear Kali scream like that...took a few years off my life :( I'm not being productive at work since all I think about is her.

Will go home in like 30 minutes to check on her. Will update later.

I went with the rule of squeeze no cry, flex & extend no cry, actually puttng pressure on including leaning forward to urinate and eat. With those results I didn't panic with Cubby yesterday. However, I also saw steady improvement over time until gone. There was a time my Shay ran smack into my old Aussie's shoulder and held his foot up and looked at me pathetically. I thought for sure my puppy was broken, but he walked it off. This was minor compared to that.

As Trini mentioned, if continued or if no or very little weightbearing, go have x-rays.

No kids for us either!
