Incredibly clever! I'll have to remember that in case I ever need to get a sample from my girls. I'll have to get a mini-frisbee for Flower though.
 
I'm glad to hear that you solved the mystery!! I bet the poor baby was embarrassed/ashamed of her mishaps. And all because of this forum. We should have a thread of close-calls where the forum helped. I've got Duncan's worms to put on the list.
 
Boys are easy to collect pee- had to have Happy checked recently. left the pups on the car and went inside to get the vet tech- they use the ladle method there. took Happy out of the car and as soon as we get near the shrubs- up the leg and lots of pee to be collected.
Callie is much harder, we have to walk around and do circles - as soon as I see her tail come up, I warn the tech that peeing is imminent. but Callie doesn't appreciate an audience and would not pee that day but she's been fine so it was ok. she does like to mark where other pups have gone so it's always good to find someplace where she wants to do that. :wink2:
 
My Maggie was trained in 2 weeks...did not take her long at all. Our beloved Katie came house trained and only had 3 accidents till we adjusted to each others routines. I have been lucky having them be very easy.
 
She's been on the antibiotics since Friday and she actually seems worse. She's been peeing in her crate more than she was before I knew she had a UTI and even had an accident on the carpet. she hasn't done that in weeks. She must being ringing the bell at least 10 times a day to pee.

I wonder if this is a side effect of clavamox?
 
It is an unusual side effect but it could be. Penicillians can cause an upset stomach very easily which is why its best to give it with some sizeable food. It is more likely that the infection has gotten slightly worse before it clears up, or that she had a bit of water retention from the infection and this is also clearing out now.

Good to hear you found out what was causing the problem.
 
Yea excessive urination doesn't seem to be a side effect of clavamox. Either the medicine didn't kick in yet or her crate is too big. I just downgraded her back to the small crate.

Is she doing any better today? Poor girl, UTI's can be so uncomfortable and make you feel so ill.

If you don't see any improvement by today, I'd be calling your vet. It's possible she might need a different antibiotic.
 
I think I would be touching base with your vet. The poor babe,is I'm sure uncomfortable,and to be better safe than not,call your vet to discuss with him what is going on with her.She may need another antibiotic~
 
she actually seems a little better today. So far no accidents ::knock on wood:: She has been out of her crate most of the day. The only time she was in the crate was in the car and no accidents there.
I took her to the park for the first time today. She's great on a leash and lovesss walks. She was a little scared of my friends dog and a few people, but showed no aggression and didn't bark.

I'm thinking it was a combination of the UTI and the larger crate. Since I just switched her back to the smaller crate, I'll give it to Wednesday and see how she's doing. If no improvement by then, then i'll call the vet.
