Yes Lahree, that is what I was saying. I have read all of your posts and KNOW that you are trying everything. I can feel your unhappiness and frustration through your posts and I also know that the thread or post is just a good place to release that unhappiness and frustration.
I wanted to know if you were have severe biting issue. Were you concerned about this getting out of hand and of course I did not state it well. I was concerned for you and for Ellie.

Like Ann said, and in Ron's words, "When you are eating hay, you have to spit out the seeds." Now what this means is you are getting advice(eating hay), and you have to throw out what doesn't apply to you (spitting out the seeds).
Again my deepest apologies if I caused any grief on your part.

yes, GREAT idea with the tug, Phebe!! I think it is totally great idea to try that with Ms Ellie before she escalates

Well I read through the first part of the thread, and jumped to the end.
Lahree....I have to ask this....are perhaps you're expectations too high!? Are you expecting 100% obediance, 100% of the time. It won't happen - not with any dog.
We all want perfect pups, but we know Shelties have their foibles. No, they are not perfect, sorry to say, though we like to think so. Don't get caught up when you read about other peoples' perfect pups. Go back and read the threads on our "not so perfect pups"
Indy is one of those dogs that you encounter on your walks....wrought iron fence and him running inside from one end to the other barking at whoever walks by. Is he a bad dag!? Heavens no! But, it must sound awful to someone walking by. Aggressive and steer clear from the devil dog.
Indy and I are working on this, talking baby steps. He now stops when I catch him at it. Now I'm working on stopping him from starting at all.

Gosh, I was in no way offended by what you have posted in any way! There is no need to apologize! You have always been supportive and encouraging. I look forward to yours posts. I appreciate the time everyone takes to read and to answer my posts. I have always felt supported here and very safe with my venting. You have asked me this is other threads where I have complained about Ellie and the answer is still the same. No, I certainly don't expect 100% obedience 100% of the time. Ellie is not a Stepford Dog or a Robodog. She is a thinking, feeling animal. I feel it is safe to vent here about her and so I do. My expectations are to try to find out from other Sheltie owners through their experiences and expertiece if there is something I can do better or different to help Ellie to be a better balanced dog and try to help us both become the best partners we can be. My expectations are to go on a walk without having to worry about Ellie's safety and mine. I do not enjoy getting bitten. I want to stop that from happening. All I want is to go for a pleasant walk without having Ellie hurting herself from lunging so hard that she flips herself over on the cement, or biting me or getting hit by a car or pulling me into the street. I don't think that is setting my expectations too high.

did Ellie had any recent vaccinations, esp rabies, by chance? There is such thing as rabies vaccinosis where previously calm dogs will turn into aggressive, barky, biting animals... also other vaccines have been linked to acute mild encephalitis which also could show in behavioral changes...
Yes, she did recently have a rabies vaccination.
