Great news! Please keep us informed about how she's doing. If they thyroid is the issue with her coat and weight you should start to see changes within a few weeks.

That is really good news...you should see a big improvement in her coat and also her overall "feeling good" in several weeks. The change in a dog when their thyroid level is brought up to where it should be can be really dramatic. Sounds like you have a great vet!!

Lil' Lady had the opposite problem. dry skin. Yes she is on thyroid pills and
has her blood tested often. She has been stable.
I was reading this is a genetic thing, and many shelties has thyroid problems.

Yes, it is odd that the opposite is true for your Lil' Lady's dry skin.
Mr Chance has the same issue. His fur was always dull and his skin was dry.
He was also diagnosed with a low thyroid. I always assumed dry skin and coat was one of the major symptoms not a greasy coat!

UPDATE: Jasmine's Low Thyroid
Took Jasmine in today for a growth removal from her eye lid and for a teeth cleaning. Wanted to do them at the same time since she is a senior.
She has been on soloxine 0.2 mg twice a day for a month and she has lost a pound and her T4 result is now 3.2!
She seems more bright and energetic! He coat is not greasy any longer!
Very pleased! I will pick her up today at 3PM.
The vet tech thought her teeth will clean up nicely and should not need to pull any teeth as she has so few left.
The will do a complete blood panel prior to surgery to make sure her liver and kidney functions do not need IV support during surgery.
She knew something was up today as she did not get her breakfast nor water. I felt so guilty dropping her off. She was shivering and buried her head in my arm!

Gloria, that is really good news that Jasmine is showing improvement...it is amazing how well dogs do once they get on thyroid meds when needed.
I am sure her dental and eye lid surgery will go just fine...and she will feel so much better once that growth on her eye lid is removed. But I too always hate having to have a little dog go under for anything and I know you will be relieved when you get the call that Jasmine is doing great and ready to be picked up! Jasmine is blessed to have such a loving Auntie!!
