Missing Sheltie: Harford County MD (Belcamp/Riverside) FOUND SAFE!

sorry about the lack of updates! I hurt my back at work yesterday and have been laid up ever since :( Still no Oliver :( but we did get some good news earlier today. A lady that lives on some farmland 3 houses up (about 2.5 miles away.. I told you I live in the boonies!) spotted Oliver twice yesterday and once this morning trying to herd her horses! After she saw him a second time she started driving around looking for signs and found one with a number. She called and let us know that he was in the area. Unfortunately when his owner arrived, Oliver was nowhere to be found. It sucks that we couldn't atleast see him for ourselves, but the lady is almost 100% positive that it was him. My gf is going to go back in the morning to look for him again along with his owners and I am going to go hopefully a bit later in the day if my back lets me. Are there any way to humainely trap him? We are all scared that he will see humans for the first time in a few days and will take off running. Any ideas on bringing this boy back home?!?!
 
I am also trying to find a picture of him and hopefully will have something to post up tomorrow! Thanks for any help!
 
There is always the have-a-heart trap, Mike. I'd get the biggest size one (your hardware store should have them) and put some tempting food in it. You'd have to have someone keeping an eye on the trap a few times a day so if he does set it off he's not in it for long. Your vet's office or the local dog warden may be able to give you additional ideas on what to do...he is probably pretty spooked by now but hungry and nervous. I so hope you have good news soon!! Praying hard to St Anthony (lost things) for Oliver!
 
GREAT news on the spotting hopefully he is home real soon. I know you must be absolutely going nuts but this is going to turn good real soon :cool:
 
Wonder if the owners put food up close to the farm house or some where close where he could perhaps see his people or even take some clothing of theirs and I still think take you dog with you so maybe he will see her and come to see her and have treats and a leash ready. I wish you luck when you go out there. Will pray hard tonight, that is great that he was spotte and bless that lady for calling.
 
Over the years there has been great luck with the large Hav-A-Heart traps, as earlier stated. You can call your local or county animal control, and they should be able to lend, or for a deposit, give you what you need. As earlier stated, put in clothing that the owners have worn, maybe a sweat shirt that has been slept in. Also a bowl of dog food. This one gets tricky, because attracting other animals. It would have to be closely monitored.
The fact that he has stayed in the area is good news, now, just to get him home.
