so how many shelties in the ER waiting room? I can barely stand the excitement when I see 1 other sheltie!

don't think that there were other shelties- just other dogs.
we have a fair number of shelties in our area but we still get comments....

Yikes - sounds like pancreatitis - I don't know about why the monocyte white blood cells would also be so high.... still puzzles me about the sores in his mouth - that seems localized like something ingested.... So sorry to see this Calliesmom - how is he actually doing physically? When do you get home?

the ER vet- not much. they are planning to retest this afternoon.
hopefully they will let him go home. if they do, my friend will take him to my vet....
still trying to find something with mouth sores and those numbers..................

Sep 6 is when I get home....
my vet and one of the ER vets said pancreatitis but not sure why yet. yeah- the combo puzzles me too.....

Wow, really scary. It looks more like an infection. I've not seen monocyte levels like that with primary pancreatitis.
Did they do a Snap CPL? The blood test is usually serum lipase, you need to test pancreatic lipase to determine pancreatitis. Snap CPL is a basic negative or positive and can be done at the vet, the more detailed serum CPL has to be sent away to labs so could take longer.
