Prozac can take a long time to get out of your system. Just like it can take 8 weeks to become effective, it can take weeks for the effects to wear off when you stop it.
As you already know Bailey had a bad reaction to generic prozac, but was much better on Reconcile.

That's true. At this point its hard to say why Toby's acting the way he is, I wondered if it was a reaction to the generic prozac or if it was the reduced dose and his need for more.
Last night I gave him Reconcile and the change was almost immediately apparent. Toby was MUCH more calm on his walk. It was then that I realized just how tense he's been on walks, his overall posture was so much more relaxed. My poor sweet boy, I could just cry for him. I wish I could make all his fear go away by just hugging him.

I found a vet clinic 20 minutes from me in Lewiston NY who said they could treat Toby's anxiety. I explained my situation and the cost of medication. I also checked the rules for bringing prescription drugs over the border and don't think it should be a problem.
This is a big relief and gives me some hope, but now I need to talk to my vet about it. I wonder how that's going to go.

Here in the states, I was able to procure (through the various coupon sites) a 75 per cent discount card for drugs. It is printed on paper straight from the computer.
When Seamus was so ill, two pharmacies accepted the coupons from me. (I did not say it was for a sheltie). I didn't say anthing except 'thanks'. I got a deep discount on two of his big expensive drugs, 33.00 off of one and 46.00 off of the other.
I hope the moderator won't think this is a plug for this site, which it is not. The site I use is couponmom. There are dozens of coupons and the pharmacy coupon is there. Most drug stores just key in the coupon number and it is effective for three years, in most cases.

Thanks for the info, I'll check it out. The thing is in Canada, you CANNOT get discounts on prescription drugs, except maybe if you're disabled or a senior citizen.
If I go to a vet over the border in the US not only is generic prozac MUCH cheaper, but I can use that pet meds discount card that everyone was telling me about. I'm going to have to wait a couple of weeks to wait for a while to make the appointment, since I've bought most of what I need.
Its nice to have some hope again.
Fingers crossed that all goes well with my regular vet when I talk to her about this!

Chiming in here! As a Francise Owner, we don't set the rules. It's up the manufacturer to set them. We choose to participate or not.
Its not the store that is playing games, its the manufacturer and how much margin they can negotiate on their product by selling through our stores.
I'm happy to to participate in any program, as long as the manufacturer signs up for it too. We are at their mercy.

Max was rescued after being raised for two and a half yrs with his brother. I tried to adopt his brother but couldn't . Sas a lot ofmyou k ow he jas had medical problems which are getting better. Since i rescued him, he always was laid back, didn't need a leash when i would walk him on our boardwalk, never wagged his tail nor would he play or run. He is skiddish with some noisesand walks so slow people thought he was old instead of four yrs old.
No one has been able to make him happy. He also is. Ery attached to me and has to go outside to do his business with one of us.
Now do u think classes would help, or a mood elevator. I thought he might be depressed because of missing his brother but its over two years we've had him.
Open for suggestions plezzzzz.
