New Puppy Looks Different

Justicemom, Ember is absolutely breathtaking!!!!!! wow.

And yes, I HATE when people argue with me over what my dog is. With me, it goes over what colour Chinook is. Today, I heard that he is a 'red merle' - whatever that is!

Ania, Aussies have red merles. I think they are more of a red coloring with the merling like our blue merles. People are idiots and most just want to sound like they know what they are talking about.

Julie, I know just how you feel. No one thought poor Ember is a sheltie. Most thought she was a collie mix. I had sheltie owners tell me there was no way she was a sheltie, because her nose was too long. But you know, it doesn't really matter. She is mine. She is the sweetest dog in the whole world and I would not trade her for what looked like the perfect sheltie. To me she IS the perfect sheltie!

Red merle occurs in Aussies, and of late I've been seeing a lot of red merle border collies too. Just as a blue merle sheltie is a black tri with the gene that causes the merle pattern, a red merle aussie is a red tri aussie with the merle gene.

Sorry, I like to go on about Aussies almost as much as I like to go on about Shelties

And Julie, your pup is beautiful and certainly looks to me to be all Sheltie. I'm sure he'll grow up to be a charmer!

What a gorgeous Sheltie, Ember is !!

looks like a sheltie to me too. Very cute.

Ember was very smooth coated as a puppy. She took almost 3 yrs for her coat to fill in. Don't worry about what people think, Ember got called a mini aussie this weekend and when I told them she was a sheltie they argued with me.:rolleyes2:
Here are pictures of Ember
This is 6 months

Thanks for sharing the pictures. How the heck did someone think She was an Aussie !! She is just gorgeous. May you be Blessed with many happy and Healthy years with your baby.:biggrin2:

My FoxMan had rear dew claws which were always getting caught on things. When he was 8 months old they removed them when he was having his surgery to be nuetered

Don't get me started on people arguing about what dog my sheltie is. I had an elderly gentleman argue loudly with me in a Hardware store after I told him my Rachie was NOT a border collie. He knew border collies when he saw one and told me I needed to stop calling her a sheltie

You have an adorable little guy there. Like the others have said, he's just in that awkward teenage stage.

Here's a picture of my little boy towards the end of his 'teens', 11 months: http://silaria.net/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=52. He's currently 3 and his full coat is finally coming in. He's still not a poof-ball Sheltie but he definitely has a much fuller coat.

Which reminds me, I need new pictures of my little guy. He's been 3 for 2 months now and I have no new pics.
