Prayers for Logan please...

Here's too Logan eating his next meal!
We tend to forget this is (usually) a long term thing (senior declines) and focus on the right in front of us....
Give him lots of extra hugs for me and Gavin!

Logan won’t eat again this morning. What I made for him yesterday he is not interested in today. I am afraid I am going to have to leave him at the vet again today.

He had horrible diarrhea this morning. Not surprised with a sudden change of diet. He is not absorbing any nutrients.

They can give him nutrients in an IV. He needs fluids. He is loosing weight. I am not at all optimistic at this point if we can not get him to eat.

My poor little guy just seems exhausted. I know leaving him at the vet will stress him out but I just can not give him the care he needs now. I just can’t watch him waste away. I just hope the vet has a solution. I just can’t believe he is declining so fast. At least he does not seem like he is in pain.

I remember all too well near the end of Mr Chance’s life that he shut down rapidly after he would no longer accept food.

I'm so sorry, Gloria. Thinking of you and Logan today. Let us know how he does. Sending you hugs.

Gloria, I am so sorry that Logan is not eating. I hope he gets treatment at the vet and feels well enough to come home soon. This breaks my heart so much, but I am glad you have the support of your furry crew at home and the awesome members on this forum.

"..the awesome members on this forum."

Thanks so much, everyone for your concern...
Take4roll10, you are so right... members on this forum are critical to helping me stay grounded and the support is just heartwarming.

I just dropped Logan off at the vet. I asked them if they could give Logan an appetite stimulant. It worked for Mr. Chance for a while.
Waiting to hear back on his blood panel and to see where he is.

I was able to hand feed him about 4 tablespoons of wet food before he refused any more. More news later...

Again, thanks everyone for your prayers and support...

Now, to add insult to injury...

Now Logan is testing positive for pancreatitis! That would correlate to the symptoms he was having...
Bloated belly, pain in the abdomen, restlessness, diminished appetite, and diarrhea.

He is now getting IV fluids and will be on pain meds. He does not want to try an appetite enhancer as that is a steroid and he prefers not to do that yet.

At least I can take him home today.

Now the struggle begins...
Has anyone ever had a sheltie with both Kidney failure and Pancreatitis?
I know the diet from one disorder is completely different than the other...

Oh no :-( Poor Logan. I can't believe all this is happening to him. But I'm awfully glad you are able to bring him home, and that you have some answers. I wish I had some ideas about foods he can have but I'm not finding any really good hard scientific data anywhere and I don't want to pass on bad advice or anecdotal stories that could be harmful to Logan. Maybe call one of the veterinary schools for suggestions? They usually have all the latest information. I know University of Florida is well known for their program.
