Prey drive/Pack drive Fight drive/Flight drive

Sca confirmed his score this morning  I always let him out then go back to sleep for a bit. Well this morning he was barking which he never does so I figured I better go look. Not sure what he was eyeing up but it was over at the neighbors I could tell after a bit. Well when he saw me looking out the door he advanced into the yard a bit and barked. Then looked back to make sure I was still behind him and barked then moved out a bit more and looked back again. He got most of the way to the fence and I went back to bed... last bark was from the porch  I am sure he did not run back but once support was gone strategic retreat was best. So a tie on flight and fight with neither being his strenght.

Very interesting thread!
Toffee's scores:
Prey 30
Pack 60
Fight 48
Flight 40

I love my little man, he's a tad insecure no surprise there and doesn't like or trust strangers. I love how he is my shadow, and he wants to figure out what I want :D
I also tend to have separation anxiety when I can't take him to places :rolleyes2::lol:

Ellie:

Prey 45
Pack 38
Fight 31
Flight 38

Both DH and I agreed on the scoring and she is so inconsistent in her behavior, it was hard to do. Sometimes she is one way and the next time in the same siutation she is different and reacts differently.

Here are our evaluations:
Mikos
Prey 46
Pack 56
Fight 25
Flight 17

Brie
Prey 34
Pack 49
Fight 18
Flight 34

Two of the questions got me wondering about something that perhaps someone here can answer. I realized that I have never heard Mikos growl. He was bark softened by the previous owner and his bark is normal, just very quiet, so will the procedure have stopped his ability to growl? Brie was also bark softened but unfortunately she sounds rather like a turkey and has a sort of gurgly sound when she is worked up that I think is her growl. I think the intensity of their bark changes with situations but does the bark softening stop the ability to change the pitch of their voice? Just curious.

My girl is not bark softened and I have never heard her growl. She makes a lot of noises (barks, howls, whines, grunts) but I don't think she has ever growled. She makes a grunting noise when tugging, but I'm not sure it's considered growling.

This test really described mine to the T! It's funny b/c two of them are mixes but man, Lily is classic Sheltie and then Theo maybe favors father.

Hadley: Yes, Hadley is a chicken and would never hurt even a flight. I've never even seen this dog growl! She never wants snapped at the puppies even when they were babies.

Prey:42
Pack:58
Fight:4
Flight:34

Theo: Yes, he's got the highest self-esteem you'll ever meet on a dog and he's very pack oriented. He's respectful and won't start eating his dinner until Lily and Hadley have begun eating.

Prey:55
Pack:82
Fight: 30
Flight:2

Lily: Lily is intense and stalks anything that moves. She will challenge the pack rules and is always the first to eat. Outside the house, however, she turns into a chicken. Typical bully :)

PRey: 74
Pack: 60
Fight:42
Flight:18

Thanks for sharing this! It was fun!

Sca never growls. When playing frisbee or tennis ball he does kind of grunt when pouncing. He also barks (multiple tones) and grumbles but no growl.

I notice almost all the Shelties are very low in fight/flight explains why they seem to always get along with other Shelties. A couple of 40's but nothing high like the pack/prey ratings. Very interesting even in a unscientific poll

I am betting Cranberry has rating similar to Sca with maybe a bit higher in fight though it sounds like Dixie rules last I remember (except when Grandma Callie puts the paw down)

Hadley, who certainly isn't bark softened, has never growled either! I would assume if she had come from a normal background she wouldn't have that high flight either. She just had all her confidence ruined. Will be interesting to take this test again a little further down the road and see if she's improved.

What an interesting test! I had never heard of it before. These are Marlowe's scores:

Prey 30
Pack 67
Fight 13
Flight 7

I was expecting pack drive to be high and defense behaviours to be low but I was surprised how disparate the scores were.

This reaffirms Marlowe as Mr. Social Butterfly!
