Shelties are like potato chips, one is never enough

I felt the same way when I saw Laddie's photo on my rescue site. I had been thinking of getting Katie a companion for a while. When I read his story - he had been abandoned on the street - and the fact that he had lost one eye (we don't know how), I also felt that people would not want to adopt a "less than perfect" dog. It's like I just heard the VOICE saying "you must adopt him - he needs to be with you". He does have some medical issues for which he is receiving medication. He is doing extremely well health wise, and is just the sweetest, most loving - and handsome - boy! I can't imagine being without him. He truly was a gift to our little family.
I say bless you, and everyone who adopts a rescue dog, sheltie or otherwise, for giving these wonderful companions loving and caring homes! I know you two will have a wonderful time together.

Oh, I just sent you a PM because I had not heard Laddie's story before. I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees the sweet babies and can't imagine life without them.

Dottie's foster mom assured me I have nothing to worry about. Just a technicality that they need the contract before they list the dog as adopted. She is a sweet lady and taking such care of my little girl until she can come home.

Today Dottie was playing in an agility tunnel with the little five month old pup. I think it's great because she's getting some exercise and taking care of her little charge as well. I'm going to get a tunnel for the yard. Do you think she can teach my two houligans to behave?!

I asked in the other thread when will she be coming home and then I found this one. What a lucky girl she is and to bad you have to wait till August but how nice of your friends to bring her home. So nice to that she has a super sounding foster mom that is there for you.

Dottie's foster mom is wonderful! She writes me almost everyday and tells me about what Dottie is doing, how she is feeling, etc. And she sends pictures and little videos. She is such a nice woman and I know Dottie is being very well taken care of.

But, I CAN'T WAIT FOR HER TO GET HERE! I'm so anxious to meet her and have her meet Meggie and Cooper too. :)

Here she is learning to go through the agility tunnel. I'm going to get one so she can teach Meggie and Cooper. I think it will make her feel confident if she can show them something they don't know when she gets here.

I think I'm as excited as you are! I loved her video. She has survived some brutal treatment and kept her sweet nature intact. It just shines from her adorable face. Can't wait to hear stories once she's home. Bless her foster mom for putting in lots of effort. I do the same when I'm fostering.

Great happy, sad story. But the REAL story is just beginning for this precious girl. You two were meant to be together. I prayed to St. Francis, patron of animals, that Dollie get the best home and fast. Prayers were answered. Keep us posted on her new life.

It is happy 'beginnings' like this that make working on Sheltie Nation so rewarding for me.

Congrats to both of you Suzie! :biggrin2:

She will have a fantastic life in her forever home. I am so impressed with her bio that the rescue home had on her. Congrats, she is a good looking girl.

I am getting so anxious I can hardly stand it! Lottie should arrive either next Sunday or Monday. I'm hoping Sunday so we can have a day before I go back to work.

My daughter is here from CA right now, but is leaving tonight. She met Cooper for the first time this weekend. She loves him, of course! We both wish she was still going to be here for Lottie's arrival. There is a small chance she'll be back in a couple of weeks, but not likely. :(
