Shelties, how they make others think they are starving!

All of our Shelties have been foodies, but some of them are master theives. I made Pizzelles over the holidays -- for those of you who don't know, they're a flat snowflake shaped cookie 4 inches around (so they're the size of a pancake!) sprinkled with powdered sugar. I keep them in a plastic container, and was snacking on them one day with the container on the end table next to the couch when I went to let my daughter in the house. TEN SECONDS, I swear! I came back to find Pixie on the couch and an empty ring of powdered sugar on the cushion! :eek2: She looked very pleased with herself. Had gotten up and helped herself to the container. And we wonder why she's pudgy!! :rolleyes2:

Kia has a sweet tooth.

If she sees the can of Whipped creme come out that's it it's over . She'll follow you till the end of time.:rolleyes2: Goodness if you have peppermint ice cream She has discovered it and loves it! I really didn't think she would like it so I gave her a taste and she loved it I was rather shocked actually.

Smudge piles it on thick, and has everybody believing him.

One day I had him in the truck with me when we (we meaning Smudge and I, because there's not a lot of room) were coming back from shopping at the pet store. I was hungry, so I went through McDonald's and got some chicken nuggets and a large order of fries.

I'm going down the road, minding my own business when I hear a rustling noise. I look over, and Smudge has his long snout in my McDonald's bag! He was going to town on some french fries! I tried to move the bag (while driving!), but by then it was a lost cause.

He was secure! I always have him fixed so he can't jump about. I still have no idea how he got to that bag!

I had Ember in the front seat one day when I stopped at McD's, as I set the bag betwen the seats, her head darted down and into the bag and came out with 3 fries before I could blink. She had never been so bold to go for food with me there. I guess that was one of the day I starved her.:smile2:

My Chloe is the first dog that I have owned who is not food motivated. Maybe it is because she is still young...but she would much rather a snuggle than a treat

OMG, the noises CeCe makes when she is begging for a treat, whines and growls, barks and whimpers- anything to get your attention, and it's just that she truly, truly believes that she deserves one, and has no ideas why she isn't getting her way!

When I put the dogs dishes down for their breakfast, I often call out "Sooouuuu-eeeeee!" Oink, oink, the little porkers can't get to their dishes fast enough!

Bailey is the same way. When I practice the "leave it" command. She will lay down, stare at the treat, bark and whimper, saying "I wanttttt it! Pleaseee"

She has a high food drive. I don't even need to use high reward treats to train her. She will train on just every day dog food.

Right now, Phebe is using the last reserves of her strength to whine and moan that she is STARVING. Nevermind, that she had a full cup of kibble for breakfast, a quarter of a pear for snack, and who knows how many treats at daycare. It's 5pm, so she is famished.

Oh! There's an ominous silence. She must have fainted from low blood sugar. :rolleyes2:
