Show Groomer!

Ah! I understand now! It's not the pants themselves you need trimmed, but underneath the tail.

What you need is the "poop chute". Do a search for it in the forum - there's been lots of discussion about it.

What did you think I was talking about?!:biggrin2:

Jessica we must of all misunderstood what you meant. I thought you wanted his "pants" trimmed. Barb is right you just need a poop chute trimmed so he does not mess on himself.

I don't explain things very good sometimes. :uhoh: What I was trying to get across is that he needs the area thinned out so that when he goes to the bathroom stuff doesn't get caught in his fur. It gets caught in his fur which makes it very difficult to brush (also nasty :dead:).

Sorry. I need to explain myself better next time.

I'm back from the groomer! I had ANOTHER flat tire! ARG! Like I'm not broke enough already. Then Smudge and I got lost and it took us almost an hour and a half to find the place! Turns out I was on the wrong side of town. I felt really stupid when I figured out where it was at. :biggrin2:

I met a blue merle for the first time! Smudge met four shelties and two collies. He sat cowering while they sniffed him. The girl collie kept following him. I had forgotten how big collies get!

Here's Smudge the fluffed up puppy. The only thing she done was trim his nails, give him a bath, clean his ears, give him a small cut on the pants, and cut a few hairs around his ears. Then she fluffed. him. up.

:biggrin2:

Almost every picture I take of Smudge's pants will be by the front door, because it's the only place I can get him to turn around and stand still.

See. There was nothing to worry about. You know I wouldn't let anybody cut a huge chunk of Smudge's fur off! You can't beat a $20 groom!

Well he certainly looks like he really enjoyed his first groom experiance. I just love it when our babes came back from the groomers. They smelled wonderful, and even looked like they were relaxed to.

Glad it went well, even though it was just aroutine bath,& trim, now he will look forward to grooming times. Way to go Smudge!

And he even made some new friends, can't get much better~

You said "pants". When I think of "pants", I tend to think about the hair down each side of the tail, down the rump into the hocks. Not under the tail. The pants aren't what catches the nasty dingleberries.

In heavy shedding season, this gives your pup "bubble butt" The trimming of "pants" is very different and you would never razor that. You would only want to ever "thin" that using thinning shears or perhaps a rake/furminator.

What you are talking about is the underside of the tail, or the poop chute as we affectionately call it here. That can be dealt with also with thinning shears or a carefully applied razor.

$20 is a steal for a bath, nail trim, quick trim! You've a keeper there!

But you've made no mention of whether or not she trimmed under his tail, which was your problem area to begin with????

Please do the search on "poop chute" or "dingleberries"....It's more than just hygiene. It also helps the Sheltie's tail lie flat against his bum in the relaxed position, which is the standard.

Smudge looks so nice a fluffy! That is a great price on a grooming. Glad to hear he had a good time with the other dogs....so are you thinking of another one?
