Smudge HATES the new puppy!

I looked for her a food and water dish at Wal-Mart last night and didn't find one to my liking. So for now she's eating and drinking out of a Dixie bowl. :uhoh: As soon as I find one I like she won't have to use those anymore. I like shallow bowls. I don't like huge, deep bowls.

The Wal-Mart I work at doesn't have anything. :dead: Most of the time if it's something I really need I don't even bother stopping at our store. I'll go ahead and drive the 50 minutes to the next town over.

They have a very, very small limited selection of toys also. I wanted to get Fluffy some cute girly chew toys. I don't guess it matters though. She's just like Gizmo. She doesn't seem to be interested in toys or chewing. :uhoh:

Wonder how long it will take Smudge to break her of that?

Congratulations and what a cutie she is too. You're going to be busy and tired as Smudge is still pretty young too.

The problem with her drinking might the water tastes and smells different than what she's used to. We have well water and when my aunt dog sits for Fergus I usually bring water as she is in town and has city water and he's does not like it. I don't know if that's the problem but it's a thought.

Actually, I do have well water. :uhoh: I have no idea if the people she came from what city or well water though. Their house is about an hour and a half away. :uhoh: Maybe bottled water would work? We have plenty of that. I could try it. Anything to get her to drink!

Try mixing a bit of chicken broth in the water. That will usually get them to drink. You can make it stronger at first, and then gradually reduce the amount of broth until she's drinking your water. If you don't have canned broth a boillion cube will do just fine.

She is a sweetheart! Good plan to have the vet examine her first, just in case. You've been through too much vet stuff already.

She's a cutie! You can make "grommets" out of medical tape and pull cute pink ribbon (MMM has hemp string now, because he is a manly man!!:rolleyes2:) through it. But you have to trim the hair inside the ears and put the tape on the leather of the ear.

One of the breeders here could explain better than I, but it works great.

From what I understand, get the tape on early and keep it on.

Chicken broth is what I add to the water to get them to drink it (giving credit to Ann there, she is the one that taught me that); however with MMM, I have to slow him down drinking and eating!

She is a cutie. A tri is a pretty, pretty dog and they look so nicely with a sable. Look at BaccaV and IndyV, they are just so pretty together.

Congratulations! She is adorable.

When I brought Lady home I was wondering what Lucky would do. Lady took over the house immediately. I kept loving him, and told him Take Care of Your Puppy, she is your puppy, and he adjusted with her ASAP.

I was shocked because he is four years older then Lady. The only thing he does I HAVE TO BE FIRST, is to zoom out the patio door FIRST. Little Lady that she is lets him out FIRST, or he'll mow her over. Otherwise its all good.

They will gel together, play together, and it will be a wonderful situation for Smudge. He will have a pal. I am giggling for Mom and Dad, now that is the adjustment.

Might sound stupid but I am a big believer when I picked up Lady to take a blankie of Lucky's along, so she knew his scent. When she came in she was so happy, I swear she did the figure eight zoomies for the longest time. Lucky really does take good care of her. As a puppy the dogs around us was not permitted to sniff her through the fence.

All equal, loves, treats, and play at the same time.

Now I know what the problem is. He's a sir, and she's a lady. I figured this out after he mounted her THREE TIMES. :uhoh: Smudge is fixed, but Fluffy is not. I have no idea what to do about this. I can't house train Fluffy until Smudge gets his act under control. The door is HIS.

I did get her to drink...from a pouring water bottle. So maybe one of those fancy fountains would be a good idea. She won't drink unless it pours.

So any suggestions about the whole mounting business? :confused2: Now that I stop to think about it, I'm pretty sure that was the problem yesterday. Like I said - he's not been attacking her. He does still go for her face, but today he done a lot more rear sniffing.

She's not that kind of girl, Smudge. :rolleyes2:
