Just spoke to my dad to see how Bailey was today. He said he's had her out of her crate since 11 o'clock. He has had no problems with her. She only asked to go outside twice within the 5 hours she's been out. She played a little and is now sleeping under the kitchen table.

So why is she so bad for me??? I was with her for 2 & half hours last night and she asked to go out 4 times and peed on the carpet when I wasn't looking... She also barks and screams at me and goes crazy. Maybe she's just excited that I home? Or is she bad, so she can get treats when she's good? Maybe she knows she has to bad to be good to get treats? Does that make sense?

Its like kids with grandparents - they seem to be a bit better behaved, but really its because they get away with so much more! Besides, she has to save up all her energy for when you get home!

I would recommend not speaking to her at all for 15min when you get home. Just take your time to get your shoes off and kick back. Is there a particular time of the day when she is worst? I would rearrange her schedule a little to ensure calming things to do when she is at her silliest - like shoulder or body massages, which are a calm reward.
 
She was a little better last night. Her barking wasn't as bad. I played tug of war with her, some mental exercises, short training exercises. She seemed a bit better.
 
We play a target game with Chloe that she loves. I take those plastic cups (the large tumbler ones they sell at BJs) and we make them into a pyramid. I put like 5 or 6 as the base of the pyramid. Then I hide a treat somewhere in between the cups. I tell Chloe "target" and she punches at the cups knocking them down and finds her treat. It is fun. She has a blast with it. Shelties are so smart, that they sometimes create ways of doing bad things as well as good things, just to get attention. They need constant mental stimulation.

that's a great idea! I think I'll try that tonight. I'll start by lining some cups up and she has to find the one with the treat. Thanks!
 
I stacked some cups up into a pyramid. She was cautious at first, then knocked them over, ran away, came back and stole a cup...lol

Then I lined up 4 cups and hid a treat under one. At first she would just steal the cup on the corner. After a few times she realized, there's a treat, so she started looking for it.

Good games. It kept her occupied for a little bit. She was much better last night too. Hopefully, she's starting to calm down a little bit.

I am glad she had fun with it. Chloe just pounces on the cups now and send them all over the place. She has a great time with it. Scares Dandie a bit, though :wink2:
 
Earnie! Shelties have great noses, but puppies are too distracted by the cups. My mom's chihuahua figured out where the treat was, but didn't know she had to move the cup. Bailey was too interested in playing with the cups.
