To debark or not to debark

I think we only almost came to fisticuffs once....but even then we worked it out. It is a great forum, and I love it when we get a good thread going.

Alot of other dog forums are all about "Here's a picture of my dog....do you think he's cute?" or "I'm thinking about getting a tiny-mini-toy-chiayorkie...what colour handbag should I guy to carry him in?"

You won't find alot of that here!

ROTFLOL!!!

I want to agree and yet I can't! I think this stems from where I grew up and the country I live in!! We're sooo regulated here many have criticised this and think anyone wanting to live in our country is nuts. There was actually an article on this over the weekend which I found very amusing. We banned chewing gum just so we don't get gunk on our shoes! It's true we give up alot of our freedom but we also live in a happy harmonious state! When we have that many people living on what has been described as a country "the size of a piece of dried up snot" (also "disneyland with death penalty". No joke!), regulation is necessary. (I feel brainwashed suddenly!)

I'm in the legal line too! If I ever end up in politics it would only be to push through pro-animal regulations (yes, at the expense of people). If all dog owners sit through a mandatory "How to care for and understand your dog 101" class and a "Troubleshooting common dog problems" class, I think we'd see a big improvement in shelter numbers and overall wellbeing of dogs. Too many get into dogs without knowing, caring, realising the problems and responsibilities that come with having one.

Dogs, heck! I wish they'd do that before you could have a kid! I visited Singapore a few years back and found it lovely!!!

You're right, that sort of stuff gets old really quick. 'Way too much fluff in a lot of dog groups. I prefer to talk with people that have opinions, that can express those opinons and can listen to other opinions.

I guess I better not mention I need soem advice on the color of quilt I need to buy to match my puppers since they spend more time (and room on it) then I do.

as far as bdebarking, I too think this is a personal decision. I have had debarked dogs and it not only scared me to hear them bark for the first time (sounded like they were choking to death), but tore my heart out to wonder if it bothered them as much as it did me. If you have no other choice, or laws in your area are strict regarding barking puppers, then you need to seriously think if this is right for your dogs

Oh no, that's essential discussion material! :eek2: I recommend this: Forget about matching the puppers. Try to match the dirt!

Oh that made me laugh  I'm imagining going on the labrador forum I belong to and asking what colour handbag I should pop Cadbury in. It would certainly need wheels!
