Tully's hip replacement

Good news Caro that Tully is doing so well despite the little setbacks.

When we had to build a 'contraption' for our dog we searched diy sites online and came up with ideas.

Continued great success, we are all on team Tully.

Best,
Kate

That makes sense. You wouldn't want to over do the physio in the beginning. Hope you got that list of exercises!

Nothing serious on your end too I hope?

As Kate said, we're on Team Tully! Please let us know if you need any help yea?

I thought last week she was getting a bit better. She managed 30min of walking and a pkt of cashews went missing on the benchtop, which means she managed to do the chair-table-bench hop.

But this week she's struggling again. We went to Million Paws Walk yesterday (the big RSPCA fund raiser) and she spent most of the time in the cart (we didn't go on the walk, just stayed in the main arena). Today I had to carry her home from our walk. The big difference - I cut back the pain meds.

I'm sad that she still can't get off the 2 daily tramadol. This week it will be 12weeks since the surgery, and her 7th birthday.

Addendum: I'm typing this with Tully in my arms, she just wants to be held, which tells me she is really in pain. I took them to the oval tonight and noticed Tully is limping again. Then I remembered I got slammed into by a large lab on Friday or Sat night, and I had Tully on lead and was holding her close to me to protect her from the idiot lab. Maybe the lab did hit Tully too and that's why she's so sore.

So sorry you are still struggling with Tully. Every time you update I hope for better news. Will keep you in my prayers, Caro.

Oh no, I'm sorry to hear that Tully isn't feeling well. I know this must be so hard to watch. I'm sending my thoughts to you all as well that Tully turns the corner soon.

I'm sorry to hear Tully's not improving. Hopefully with the pain meds back to the previous dosage she will perk up again. Sending both you and Tully positive healing vibes!

Just getting to this update, Caro, and am really sorry to hear that little Tully is not healing as fast as hoped. It is so hard to see a little dog you love in pain...may each day bring better progress for Tully.

It's been a long time since I updated on Tully's progress. Unfortunately that's because she hasn't progressed. She manages 40 slow minutes on flat surfaces, and barely 20min on hills, can't jump on the bed and is still in pain. All very disappointing.

After exhausting the vet services here we headed back to Sydney this week to see the ortho surgeon. After lots of x-rays and hip manipulation all he could say was the hip joint looks great and her flexion is fine. So he sent us away with a new NSAIDs and no answers.

I was just paying the exorbitant fee when he raced out saying he had an idea. Took her back in, he pushed her sacrum and whoa, she tried to bite him! So finally I have a diagnosis. Not sure if it's a good one - ortho vet said I'd need a MRI to know, but I can't afford that atm. Could be from the surgery, could be from the original injury, could be a fracture, arthritis or a pinched nerve.

So she's on rest again, some new NSAIDs and we'll see how she goes. I'm not holding my breath - she's been on rest pretty much since the surgery.

Oh poor little thing. Great to finally have a breakthrough about the source of the pain. Fingers crossed that the cause is an easily treatable one and she'll be pain free once again. You're both in my thoughts :hugs
