Tully's not doing well

Caro, my heart goes out to you. Trying to find comfort for a beloved older doggie struggling with serious health issues can be so draining emotionally and physically. Tully is blessed to have such a loving Mom.
Trini
Thanks Trini. It is so exhausting but I wouldn't trade it for the alternative. It's a full time job to manage Tully's medication and feeding schedule - which Tully has learnt by heart (dogs are amazing at telling the time). Add in an anxious and neurotic rescue and a still not house-trained puppy and it chews up all my time. Poor cats get very neglected atm. I don't know how you manage doing rescue.

I well remember this routine with Ally. It was indeed all-consuming, plus trying to give Brooke and Faith the love and attention they needed as well, and I had my hubby to help. I'm sorry the new diet was a disaster. Sometimes mom knows best. I really hope she can have the surgery safely and that it will buy her some good quality time, Caro. :hugs

As Sharon said, I remember it too, Caro. Been thinking about that today, it's 4 years today since i lost Pixie. You never forget, and I nursed her for more than a year at the end so I know just what you mean. It's a labor of love but it does take its toll. I hope the Ursidiol helps Tully and buys you some time till the surgery, and I hope she can get that done. It should make her feel a lot better if she can have it. Sending you hugs, and hope. :hugs

I'm sorry the new diet didn't work out Caro but I'm sure Tully is much happier with mommy's diet instead. I had a Cocker that had eaten part of a slipper years ago...when it came back up whoaaaaa...trust me, your image can't match mine:lol:.
Hopefully you get some answers from the specialist, I'm sure sooner is better than later!
I wanted to get an ultrasound on Piper (he's almost 5 1/2) but wanted to wait until they allowed us back in there. They way things are going I don't see that happening anytime soon. Fortunately Piper is pretty much good with everything (loves going to the vet) so I may just get him in there within the next month or so. One less thing to worry about.

Our older babies are soo worth it. I swear they understand and appreciate all the little things we do for them.
Of course, the problem is you forget about yourself...I have gotten much ...umm.. larger...since Gavin had his injury. Wouldn't trade him for anything but I know my health has suffered.

Well she's had a flare up again. Very bad diarrhea last night, unsteady and lethargic, and now we're up before dawn with bloody diarrhea. No reason she should be sick, she hasn't gotten into any food. She started on Ursodiol on Monday (it's Saturday morn now) so I don't know if that causes stomach upsets.

I don't know what signs to look for if the gallbladder has ruptured? I rang emergency but they said to just watch her.

Oh Caro, this is so distressing to read that Tully has taken a turn in the wrong direction. I am wondering if you can plead with the vet to see you. With her advanced age and history of tummy troubles this is an emergency! I can tell you that if the gall bladder bursts, as Sharon stated, it is quick. My first rescue Billy passed that way.
Virtual hugs and prayers being sent to you and Tully! Please keep us posted!
