Chronic tummy problems

So heartwarming to see Tully's presence bringing comfort to Deska, I'm sure it helped him immensely.
Hopefully he improves enough to go home with you soon.

It is so heartwarming that they let you visit Deska so much..
I hope he can come home soon, as all this running around sounds exhausting!
 
Taken a turn for worse.

Unfortunately it's really busy there and the specialist is operating on another dog. Gave him a hug, now he's back getting antibiotics. Having shower and heading back down to spend the day there, want to be there if something happens.

Fingers and paws crossed that Deska improves and I'll say a prayer for you and Deska when I go to bed tonight.
Your in my thoughts and prayers Caro...while we can't be with you in body we're definitely with you in spirit!
 
We're camped outside the vet waiting.

When nurse came Deska hid his head under my arm and Tully did a full on body block. She was going to protect her bro no matter what. If she was a German Shepherd it may have worked but they just dragged her off. It just amazed me.
 
Out of surgery. Saw him briefly but very groggy and looking awful. I know with all my surgery the worst, and most painful time, was straight after surgery

Gallbladder was leaking in a spot - possibly because it had become so full of bile it had weakened wall.

The specialist tonight drew a very useful picture for me. Not this one - I forgot to bring it home so drew it myself. The intestine is diverted to the gallbladder (in pink) because the tumour was pressing on the duct and blocked it so it backed into liver. The tumour is in that one small section of the stomach/intestine and is inside the wall of the intestine. Unfortunately that particular area is where the pancreas attaches and in dogs you can't reattach the pancreas duct so they can't just resection intestine and dogs rarely live without a pancreas - guess that's why pancreatitis is so fatal in dogs. Of all the areas of the intestine to get a tumour, that is the worst. Waiting on biopsy to find out more about the tumour.

One thing I learnt from all this. Don't delay going to a specialist. Two unsuccessful visits are enough. I've spent over $4000 on the dogs in the last 3 months with repeat vet visits and tests. If I had gone to the specialist earlier I would have saved money and found it sooner.
