Chronic tummy problems

I have no words. I am so sorry. My heart is breaking for you. I've been on this forum for 9 years and all I can remember is posts about Deska chasing roos and eating things he shouldn't. I pray for a miracle that Deska can come home and have a little more time with you. Hugs and kisses for Deska. I will be sure to hold Bailey close tonight.

When Gavin was in ER for his vomiting and diarrhea when I was in Europe, they asked about a DNR. My friend asked me twice...which means she couldn't believe I wanted him resuscitated at almost 13. If I wasn't awake on my phone at 3AM, I have no doubt she would have checked DNR. Not that things went that way..

I hope you get to bring your boy home for a few weeks..

we are all here you and deska

Caro I'm so sorry to hear about Deska. We all know that awful feeling of knowing the end is near and feel your pain. You have had the toughest of years and I can't believe this is happening. We are far away but please know that we are all with you in spirit holding you up. Give your boy lots of hugs and pats and cherish the time with him. He knows how loved he is. Sending you many hugs and prayers for strength.

Caro,
Getting worried. You are normally posting an update by now.
Very concerned about YOU and Deska.
Please know I am sending prayers of comfort to you.
Blessings...

Gloria

Sorry, I did try posting something at the vet but was having trouble with network and it mustn't have gone through

Thanks for taking the time to post knowing how much stress you are under! How absolutely heartwarming to see you all together to support Deska at the vet!

Can Deska come home?

I spent a few hours with him today. This morning he was so happy and excited he looked great. Then took Tully to Santa and came back and he was tired and just slept. But it was lovely, I sat with him for a few hours, he got up sometimes to change position and check I was still there and then slept again. Tully slept close by him, when he moved she moved.

He has a tube in his neck for food but he is eating (Deska will never not eat), he's got lots of shaving underneath and sides and a drip line.

Unfortunately in the afternoon he had bloody diarrhea, they weren't too concerned. Tonight I went to drop in his food, gosh he turned himself inside out, and then when he realised I had food - it was the old Deska, eyes big and bright, a huge smile, so I gave him half an egg. But he needed the toilet and had bloody runs again so they took him back to put on drip and I didn't even get a cuddle.

The overnight vets are most worried about dehydration, but the specialist said the big risk is bleeding because he can't clot with how bad his liver is; I wish they would focus on that. It was quiet when I went in tonight so hoping it will stay quiet so they can focus on Deska overnight. I am still worried about the bleeding. They won't let me bring him home to die if he worsens, they say it will make it worse for him.

Didn't sleep much last night and been on the go all day today. Having a wine and hoping that will send me to sleep (and I don't drink!).

Is there any medication they can give Deska to help with blood clotting?

I know that having you and Tully there helps his mental state! I sure hope he can get stable so you can bring him home soon. Virtual hugs to you, Deska and little support Tully!

Sure hope the wine helps you to sleep!

The specialist gave him vitamin K before the surgery. Don't know if they are doing anything about it now.
