EAST COAST shelties & humans remain safe.

SO scary over here right now.

We are OK, but I have never heard anything like this. Gutters and shutters have been ripped off my house. House is shaking....very scary.

Hope you are ok this morning. I am watching news all morning, and my golly NJ,Manhatten, areas surrounding are in such devastation.

I do hope everyone is okay this morning. We started having crazy winds last evening, shaking the condo and this morning it is more windy and strangely warm. We are still very far from the eye of the storm and I imagine it must have lost some intensity (I hope.. I have not had time to check), I can't imagine wha you guys who were in it yesterday went through.

Stay safe and be very carefull when you can go out as all the debris or half fallen trees, can be very dangerous.

We are through the worst of it here. Still raining and windy, but nothing like yesterday and last night. We were just out assessing tree damage and picking up tons of shingles from our roof. Lots of power outages here, but all in all, we were very lucky. Our power is on and we're all in one piece. Nearby New York City looks like an incredible disaster. Can't imagine how long cleanup and restoration will take.

Thanks to all for your good thoughts, prayers and wishes. :hugs Hoping all of you still in the path stay safe! :fl

Checking in to see how everyone is doing. Being in a hurricane is scary and errie. I for one hate the noise. Rachel I hope you heal quickly that sure sounds like a bad fall.
I have been wondering and thinking of all you during this storm, so many of you have never been through any thing like this before.

All is well here-our neighbor to the left of us had a tree fall against his house, didn't go through the roof !! And we didn't loose power. Branches down everywhere and a tree in the back of our property will need to be taken down all the way but not even a broken window on our shed. No snow for us just lots of rain. Not much flooding, the little stream beside our house flooded and Sally's toileting grounds are marshy but not flooded today.I am off work today because of Sandy, yeah, so I will be baking an apple dessert to celebrate. Hope all is well with our NJ and NY and CON sheltie lovers...Thank God for His Blessings.

I didn't have power after Katrina so wasn't able to watch the damage reported on tv. Maybe that was a good thing because just seeing my damage & listening to it on the radio was horrible. But seeing the damage from Sandy really makes me sad for everyone up north having to deal with this. It is such a massive effort to start cleanup & dealing with the damage. Just take it step by step & no matter what little thing gets done each day consider that day a success. Before you know it you will be finished. Just stay safe & hug the furry ones.

So glad to see so many checking in to let us know they're ok! Yes, all of us have been very worried.

My daughter and family are just outside Boston. She posted on Facebook fairly often to let us all know they are ok.

And I'm grateful we had the enormous mostly dead tree taken down last month! We are having 50mph gusts here in central Indiana! That tree would have been through the roof!

We lost power for a few hours last night, but it came back early this morning. Bailey had to pee at 11pm when the weather was at its worst. It was too dangerous to take her out, so I hoped she would hold it for as long as she could. The window sounded awful and the sky was lighting up blue (generators exploding). Bailey went into her portable crate and I zipped it up. I figured if the window busted, it would be safer if she was in the crate and I could grab it and go. Unfortunately, her bladder couldn't hold and she peed in the crate. I felt terrible, but I think I made the right call. Way too dangerous to walk her.

My neighborhood (which I evacuated Sunday night) was flooded and still has no power. My building didn't flood, but the streets and subways are flooded. Not sure when I'll be able to return.

Glad everyone is checking in and are safe!

Checking in! No power at our house in Maine. I had made a pot roast yesterday afternoon, and when we lost power, around 4:30 it was done. So I packed up the big LeCruset pot full of dinner, and started out for the drive off the island to my sister's house. I quickly ran into the firemen on our island stopping me from going any further. A tree had come down across the power line. I could have back-tracked and taken the road on the other side of the island, but the nice fireman told me to go home! So that is what I did.
Sat in the glow of the candlelight, eating my dinner and reading Dog News magazine.
Did Suduku and read, until bordom took over.

Funny note: The dogs DID NOT want to leave the door to take care of business last night...TOO DARK! No flood lights for them. Very scary, that darkness. So I went with them and carried the flashlight.
