That really freaks me out to have her by herself, but we have to be practical. We can't afford for DH to turn down work unless it is an emergency. We sure can't afford it now! 
She is a really lucky pup that 99.99 percent of the time in her life, someone has been with her. She only has to stay in her crate for short amounts of time if DH and I go out shopping or to a movie or something. She has always been calm and quiet before, but with this separation anxiety thing going on, I just hope she will remain that way.

Is it possible to have any family member or good friend to pet sit while you and DH are away? especially during the next few days. If not she must have been given pain meds, try keeping her dose for just about 10 minutes before you leave so she gets a little tiredwhile she's in ner crate and leave her a Kong or some chew toy with her. We had to leave her tonight for about 20 minutes because my husband's car needs repair (of course it needs repair NOW while alll this other $$ is having to be spent) and I had to follow him there and bring him home. When we walked in the house it was quiet but then she must have woken up and before we could make it to the bedroom door where her crate is she screamed--I can't think of any other way to describe it. The hair stood up on the back of my neck! Richard ran the last few feet and she was biting the bars of her crate and I guess she got her mouth stuck or somethng. I think it was a combination of fear, anxiety and panic I guess. I have NEVER heard anything like that in my life! It was LOUD! 
I think the bars on her crate remind her of the cages the vet office has. When we had to leave her on Sunday night, the last vision I had of her was her biting the bars on the bars on the cage and frantically pawing at them and then her barkign and howling as we walked down the hallway. I THINK (hope) (pray) she'll be ok tomorrow. I think she is getting the idea that we are coming back. Richard has to drive me to work tomorrow because his truck will be in the shop, so she will have to be crated for about 30 minutes again tomorrow morning. We'll see how she does then. If she does panic or scream again when Richard gets home tomorow morning, I may have to resort to taking time off work and coming home to watch her for three 2-3 hours tomorrow. It would be a really, really bad time to do that tomorrow because we are short-handed, but, Ellie and the cat are soooooo important to us.
