Gavin's Never Ending Dotage (Part 2)

So am I. He had 2 cancers, 2 surgeries, radiation, he's a functional tripod, has a HUGE lipoma on his hip, and he's still going strong!

I really wish I had that lipoma removed 2 years ago, but it was a matter of how big will it get and how long will it take (it's gotten really bad the past few months, but doesn't seem to bother him, he lays on that side often enough). It's on his only good rear leg, so I worry if I have it taken off that stitches won't hold and the healing would be a problem cause it's not a spot that can bandaged. 20/20 and all that.

I never guessed he'd make it to 17!
Is it possible for them to drain some of it? I know Piper gets them (he’s been getting them since he was around 2!). He’s got 1 on his back and 2 near his neck. I wonder why some are more prone to them…Finnie doesn’t get them at all.

I'll ask at his next visit. The tumor size was mentioned at his last one (it is visible), and the vet didn't seem inclined to do anything. It is pretty solid, though, so debulking is probably more complicated than draining via syringe. I know they don't like to remove them unless they are bothering the dog, but it is definitely getting big enough I worry about it bursting. Of course, all this needs to be handled in the 2-3 months between me getting back to CA and hopefully going back to help Mom after surgery.

Gavin is having a tough time. Thursday night he was restless, then Friday he slept all day. Not much moving, as in all he could really do was flop over to the other side while laying down. I was able to get him to drink but he was uninterested in his food. He did pee.
Today I got him to eat (added yogurt to his kibble). He did get up on his own (once). Still working on the peeing. This has happened a few times before, and it takes a few days for him to get back to normal. Just hasn't happened for a good 6 months. It could be brought on by activity, could be a mini stroke, could be a pinched nerve. I just hope he gets better cause taking care of him at Mom's house is a lot harder than back home (everything is set up for making Gavin's life easier).
