Male dog completely obsessed with female in heat

I seem to recall we had one of our regulars shortly before her heat and shortly after with her little panties on in class and it wasn't much of an issue.
But a young dog, and a bitch in full season... to me completely unacceptable
bitch in full heat at agility class, not fair to the dogs at all.
If you are training, best you can hope for is games of look at me, be as far away as you can and the biggest jackpot treat EVER if he ever looks at u, lol
 
I teach ninth graders. I see this same type of behavior in the spring when the girls break dress code and wear skimpy shorts and low tops. Wonder if obedience training would work on them, lol!

I'm not sure, but if I had gone to an all-male school I would have been a Rhodes Scholar!
 
I would be fuming about a bitch in heat at agility. My friend brought her male dog to class when she was looking after a bitch in season. Merlin lost it a little and tried to hump the dog. I worked through it but it wasn't our best session.

Merlin is intact, but Cadbury is not, yet Cadbury is far worse around a bitch in season, he goes seriously loopy. What is someone doing bringing an in season dog to class? It is just causing unnecessary problems for other people.
 
This thread is so timely for me.

I have a female foster Sheltie, who is just starting her heat cycle. She cannot be spayed yet because she has some liver issues which need to be identified and treated. Antibiotics didn't work, so she is going for an ultrasound next week.

In the meantime, we are going to have to ride out her heat cycle.

Within the next week, she should start having the yellow discharge, at which time my males, although neutered, will probably become amorous.

any suggestions on how to deal with this? A friend with horses, told me that they put Vicks on the males noses to numb them from the scent of a female in heat.

I wonder if this would work for dogs? She will, of course, be crated when I am not at home.

Any suggestions?

If they are neutered, I'd say let them have their fun. Seriously. What's the harm? Unless they are fighting with each other, then it's an issue.
 
Toffee's mom: you'd be surprised at how many people have done this. How horrid is that????
I used to put the boys in the car overnight if weather permitted. They got sleep, she got sleep and so did I. In warm weather or cold weather, we all suffered through it.
Please don't let you males, neutered or otherwise, breed that bitch. There is an antibacterial substance in the clear fluid (pre ejaculate) that comes before the sperm enriched fluid when a dog breeds a bitch which helps prevent pyometra and metritis. Remember, he's not especially clean there! You don't want to be dealing with either of these problems.
