I don't blame you Darren for cancelling his rehab if he had to be left there. On the one hand I understand it but on the other there should be exceptions, especially for a dog like Monty that's been through so much. Also it helps if your there so you can learn what to do at home!Thanks Gloria, I'm hoping it was just fluid, that's what the vet said it had a good chance of being! He's coming on more now, and lays with me on the grass we are slowly getting there. I know I said visit but it's a full day again as they need to semi sedate him again. Hopefully for the last time
Oh wow Caro, that just shows the importance of second opinions. I'm so happy it turned into just scarring, super scary!. I really want to get one for Monty but don't want to put him through anymore tests/scans, I think he's had enough!
Thanks Lisa, I keep having to remind myself about the pneumonia when we have few set backs. He's done really well to get back to where he is so I've got to make sure not to push him. He actually was supposed to be doing rehab but I cancelled it. He would have had to be left there and I just think he's had enough being left with strangers. I'm doing my best to take him out and get him walking up and down the stairs to build him up.
Thanks Ann, the scans are on Wednesday so he's getting lots of love and rest today haha. He has to spend all day there again as they need to sedate him again. I'm hoping this will be the last time he has to go through it all for a while.
Thank you Sandy! I wish I was closer to you all so Monty could thank everyone in person and you can see how tiny he is lol. I love that he's the same size as Kooper, I just need to get a little more weight on him haha. I know he's tiny when I can turn around and the youngest is able to pick him up and cuddle him lol.
Darren, healing fully and regaining normal strength can be a long haul with pneumonia. However, Monty's young age and otherwise good health are on his side and a full recovery should be in the books for him. And his trust and mischief making will fully return too...again it is just time and love that will get him there. The fact that he responded so well in learning to trust and be such a confident mischief maker this past year means that he can and will make that leap again. I know it hurts emotionally right now to see your wee lad not being himself or having the energy he had before he got ill. But one of these days you will see that full of trouble...good trouble
