No news is good news?

Hmmm, I think I'd definitely rerun the Lyme test if you can, Sandy. This just sounds too much like it, or another tick-borne disease. Karmen (chiro) is wonderful and can tell you a lot just by putting her hands on him but another 10+ days is a long time to wait if he does have Lyme. Would your vet give you a run of doxycycline to try? Mine will treat with doxy based on symptoms if the test doesn't show positive and if it works, we know what it is. At this point I think that's worth a shot.

Aww geez...I can certainly understand your frustrations, I’m still over a year later dealing with Finnie’s hock. When we’d been trying to diagnose Riley the vet had done a QC6 test...{A positive C6 test means antibodies to C6 were found. The next step is to do a QC6 test, which determines if the levels of antibody are high enough to justify treatment. If the value of the QC6 is higher than 30 IU/mL and signs of illness are present, then antibiotic treatment should be considered. If the QC6 is less than 30 IU/mL and there are no signs of illness, then treatment may not be necessary.}

Can you ask about getting a sample from the joint? Is it possible he may not have enough antibodies present and that’s why your getting a negative result?
Hopefully you can get some answers soon...hard to keep him quiet and so frustrating for you!
  • Polymerase chain reaction test
    • DNA test
    • While blood is used to test, the sample may give a false negative report if the animal doesn’t have bacteria in its blood
    • Preferred test samples are taken from the synovial fluid of an affected joint.

This is the test they ran on him last month.. https://www.vet.cornell.edu/animal-health-diagnostic-center/testing/protocols/lyme-multiplex-dogs

I just texted (LOVE have a vet who texts!!!!) and asked if they could run a Lyme's test on the fluid from his joint.

Okay, so asked for another Lyme's - they don't test joint fluid though. They said doxy starting today to see if there is any change. How quickly would doxy make a difference if it IS Lyme's disease?

They can test again but not until Monday unless they have a cancellation so feel it is best to start doxycycline.

Pill #1 is in.

I also gave him a pain med - he's in really rough shape this afternoon.

I feel totally guilty praying that the doxy works. Lyme's would suck but it would at least be an answer... not sure how long I might see results. Petmd says potentially 24-28 hours.

Doxycycline is incredibly effective if it's Lyme. You will see improvement in 24 hours, a bit longer at most. Lyme is a bummer but at least it's easy to treat once you know. Sending many good thoughts for your little guy that this works!
