Not a good day.....

Oh Barb...if that was my dog...I would be an emotional basket case.
You can cry...I would be too.
I'm glad Indy is pulling through and it was good that you saw all this happening.

Give Indy a big hug from us....especially from Mya.

Sending prayers and good thoughts your way that Indy comes home today for a speedy recovery. We'll hope for good news when you can update.

Oh no. What a shock for you, on top of all the stresses of selling up and moving. So glad you got to him in time, and he will have a nice cool belly now for summer. These pups sure cost a lot - not just in money but in stress and heartache.

Did they have to cut into his stomach? That would mean stitches and - oh no the cone of shame.

Oh no! I am sending my best wishes for a speedy and uncomplicated recovery. Like everyone has said, it is extremely fortunate that you were there. That same situation could have happened to ANY of us, but not all would have been home to be able to act immediately. Looks like you have a guardian angel.

OMG! That sounds like an Ellie stunt!

Thank GOD you saw what it was! You wouldn't have had a clue! I'm sure it saved his life that you saw it! It got taken care of right away instead of possible misdiagnosis.

BIG BIG hugs to you! Unfortunately, I know what it feels like. :(

Well

I just brought him home.

And yes, he was wearing the cone of shame. I took it off for now, because I just couldn't bear it. He can't seem to settle down, and he keeps staring at me with such a look....I like to think he's acting like that because of the pain meds, but maybe its because he's not liking his Mom too much.

He's been a little trooper though. He was up and about late yesterday afternoon, and was looking for breakfast at about 6 a.m., according to the vet.

I had myself a good cry last night....and then spent the rest of the night, feeling blessed that I was there when it happened. I cannot imagine the outcome if I hadn't seen it, and the terrible pain he would have gone through.

This is a reminder to be extra vigilant over the next two weeks as I pack for my move. There is no shortage of things that will fall to the floor and be fodder to these little food hounds.

Thank you everyone for your kindness and support.
