Darren, such good news that Monty is back to acting "normal"this morning...or maybe not such good news!!!!! As far as missing teeth stopping squeaking Mr. B. that is not an issue..one of my previous seniors who came into rescue with a totally rotted mouth and lost all but 3 teeth when we had his dental done was a world class toy squeaker...so Mr. B will be back to making high pitched comments as soon as Monty can get him in his mouth. And think how totally boring life would be if you had gotten a gold fish instead of Monty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You just got spoiled with Harley! Monty is your real-life Dennis the Menace in dog form!

I'd say he will do fine without the front teeth; statement made from one whose cat lost his. My Siamese, Sam, had front canines that for some reason or other began to grow again when he started down his very long road of illness. Visiting my dad I got a phone call from a hysterical teenager screaming about 'blood everywhere'. When I calmed him down, it was the cat - he lost a canine. Once healed, it never stopped him from eating the dry food he loved. He eventually lost the other one too. Our pets are far more resilient than we are!

Thanks for the great start to my morning, Darren! I was hoping for good Monty news...this is the best! (Well, maybe not for your peace and quiet, but... ) You certainly did get more Sheltie than you bargained for in Monty. Thank goodness he was sent to you and not to someone who wouldn't have the patience to laugh at them! At least when you aren't crying and writing checks....

Thanks everyone and sorry to worry you, this little guy is going to be the death of me. I honestly can't take my eyes off him for a second without him doing something.
After a day at the vets they have said he has concussion and has had to have front teeth removed (I've made that photo small for people who don't want to see).
I cancelled my insurance as the policy went up by hundreds due to his illness a year ago.......bad call on my side....
He's back home (very drugged up and quiet) but he's not allowed to carry Mr Broccoli for 7days to protect his mouth wound and stitches, that is going to be fun. The vets must think I'm the worlds worst dad for the amount of times we have to go. I really need to start obediance classes when they open to maybe try and get him to stay out of all the trouble he gets himself into. I still think today for what-ever reason he just decided to run head on into the door while I was in the other room.

I have a bottle with two front teeth too. Lowers. Discovered the loose teeth at his last dental. Has not bothered him a bit, but I noticed the he tugs from his back teeth now. Probably gets a better grip!

Tired can also be mentally. Puppies never stop yet if you make them think you can wear them down. With Monty having to stop for air he does not tire but if you make him think.... Just a thought.

Sorry I'm late to the, um, party. Monty, I am so sorry you had an accident. You'll do fine without those teeth, and maybe you can visit Mr. Broccoli a couple of times a day.

Darren, I feel your pain. Between Beckon's vet bills for renal and liver issues and Louis the cat's cardiac disease, we're gulping hard when the credit card bills roll n. That said, they're worth every penny. Monty especially!!

I've actually ordered some babygates yesterday to try to control him a little better around the home, they should be coming today.

You think baby gates are going to contain him! I can attest to having a 14yr old lame and deaf Sheltie that still hasn't slowed down. These little ones are demons!

So sorry Mr Monty has lost his angelic smile, although he still looks pretty cute.

I cannot believe the insurance company increased your fees after making a claim - that's the whole point of getting insurance, to make a claim. Mind you, I'm sure my insurer will be thinking about putting Shelties on the top tier after all the claims I've made.
