See, I gave him a 3 on being hesitant to come, because he won't come to me if he knows he's about to be groomed. lol. Now we can see just how mellow my old man is...however, he's always been non-sheltie like.

Yup, little boy has his issues. lol. Oh yeah, in regards to growling, Koji only growls when he's playing tug. I've never heard him growl otherwise. Miko has growled at Koji or other dogs when they invade his space, but never at people.

sounds like Miko just likes to hang out on the veranda with his pals over some sweet tea.... kind of a southern gentleman sheltie :biggrin2:
 
The breeder we got Mikos from does the early neurological stimulation for her puppies, would doing that have any influence on how a dog would rate in this personality test? I was just curious as to whether something like that can influence personality traits.

I might have to up Dixie's fight number- she's the only dog that I know of that runs out into the back yard to bark at the thunder :winkgrin:
Nothing is getting into her backyard :lol:

There is a breeder here who did that with her pups (I know coz I helped!) and she recently did the test too coz I put it on Facebook and all. She also put up results of the rest of her dogs and the pup's and the other dogs (who didn't go through the neurological stimulation) were more or less the same in that they were all higher/lower in the same categories which suggest genetics to me, more than anything else.

I did that with my puppies. I really can not say if it made a difference. Their mom is a very sane dog who is brothered by nothing. The puppies are similar in reactivity but they all had different personalites which I could see at a very early age.

One girl was a stubborn mule with low toy drive and a bit more independent. One girl had really good prey drive, bold, brash, like people and attention so ok pack drive. One boy was laid back and so unreactive you needed to take his pulse. But he loves people ,attention, can take or leave toys. One boy was intense, so into people(loves people) super pack drive, super prey drive, not brothered by a thing in the world. A born leader.

I think maybe you could influence reactivity as in how intense the flight and fight responses(lower vs higher scores) are, but how they respond to stress either by fight or flight is hard wired in the personality.

Funny thing, one supposed benefit of early neurological stimulation is less reactivity to motion. 3 of the 4 puppies have had issues with car sickness. So it did nothing to help that. We did so much handling, postural exercises, started rides in the car at 5 weeks. But they still developed motion sickness around 4-6 months. All but Porter have outgrown it. Porter only gets sick if he has eaten alot. DIva does not have motion sickness and could ride surfing on the top of the car and have no problems but her littersister and her mom have horrible car sickness so I think that there is a genetic component to that.

Just an opinion. For instance if likes to chase frisbee is a question Sca would be a 10 my brother's previous dog who would only want it so someone else didn't would be a 2. Just degrees of yes/no/maybe

I did it in this way. If they always did something 100%, it was a 10 if they were likely to something 9 out of 10 times(90%) a 9 and so on, same with the other end is it a no(2 out of 10 times 20 %), a no I won't(1 out of 10) or a hell no(0% never).

It is very subjective.
