When my first rescue Sheltie Billy had his attack he was in ICU for five days! He was so weak when he got back home. He did so much better after the next few months. I took him to a referral clinic. It was like a huge hospital for animals with specialist doctors. They said he was too weak for removal surgery! They recommend having ultrasounds every six months. Within four months he had another massive attack and I lost him! So Ann, thanks for educating us all! Only wish I understood this insidious disease before! I could have taken steps to prevent it! This might serve as a great post on the homepage of Sheltie Nation Ann! Post Checkers picture with the story about your experiences. It might save a life! I know my experience with Billy did! I know Mr. Chance might not have lasted as long as he did without the preventative ultrasounds and medication!
